Episode 4 recap: Luo Qi Qi's childhood came to an end when her grandfather passed away.
Luo Qi Qi wanted to win the first prize in the math Olympiad together with Zhang Jun. To achieve this, she specially wrote a problem set, but Zhang Jun didn't come to school for several days in a row. Worried about Zhang Jun, Luo Qi Qi asked Zhang Jun's desk mate for information, but the classmate didn't know the reason either. Feeling upset, Luo Qi Qi leaned on her desk during class, feeling sad.
Guan He happened to transfer to their class at that moment. The teacher saw that all the students were welcoming Guan He except for Luo Qi Qi, who completely ignored him. The teacher was immediately angry and accused Luo Qi Qi of disrespecting the teacher and classmates, mocking her if she could solve the problems she taught. Luo Qi Qi said she could, but the teacher didn't believe her and sarcastically questioned her attitude towards studying and whether she even wanted to go to college. Liu Jun enjoyed the spectacle and made a commotion in the class, mocking Luo Qi Qi as a "three-handed" person who still wanted to go to college, which made Luo Qi Qi furious.
Although Luo Qi Qi didn't steal anything, she was slandered by Liu Jun, which made her very angry. After school, she threw stones at Liu Jun to teach him a lesson and to stop bothering her. But Liu Jun wasn't willing to back down, and with two other companions, he chased Luo Qi Qi relentlessly. Luo Qi Qi quickly ran away, and as she was running, Zhang Jun pulled her into an alley. Luo Qi Qi saw Zhang Jun's eyes light up, and she shared the chocolate she had brought with Zhang Jun. The chocolate was bought by her grandfather, and she only ate one piece per day. Bringing two pieces meant she wanted to share them with Zhang Jun. Facing Luo Qi Qi's inquiries, Zhang Jun only mentioned that something happened at home, which caused him to miss school for a week, but he refused to say specifically what happened.
Luo Qi Qi gave the math Olympiad book she had prepared to Zhang Jun and invited him to work hard together, with both of them aiming to become the top performers. Zhang Jun took the book home, intending to study hard, but he was disturbed by the noise of his father coming home. Seeing his drunken father, Zhang Jun asked about his mother's whereabouts and was devastated to learn that his parents had divorced. He couldn't believe it and rushed out of the house to find his mother, but his father forcibly pulled him back. Zhang Jun's sad expression pierced his father's heart, and he forcefully handed Zhang Jun twenty yuan, saying he would be going on a business trip next week and told Zhang Jun to stay with his aunt. Zhang Jun threw the money on the ground, feeling frustrated, and returned to his room. He swept everything off his study desk, despairingly leaned on the table, and cried, feeling that everyone had deceived him.
Luo Qi Qi participated in the math Olympiad competition and won first prize in the elementary school group, with the highest score. Gao Lao Shi praised Luo Qi Qi for her intelligence and asked her to bring the award certificate home to share the joy with her parents. Luo Qi Qi looked at the certificate with delight, which made Yuanyuan feel unhappy. Yuanyuan demanded Luo Qi Qi to wash an apple for her, and Luo Qi Qi took the opportunity to make a mess of the reward. Frustrated that her hard-earned award certificate was ruined, Luo Qi Qi immediately got angry and hit Luo Yuan Yuan. Just at that moment, their parents came back and witnessed the scene. They comforted Luo Yuan Yuan and blamed Luo Qi Qi for resorting to violence over such a trivial matter. This made Luo Qi Qi feel wronged. She felt that this was not her home, but Yuan Yuan's home. No matter how much she suffered, no one would care about the reasons behind it.
The next day, Luo Qi Qi went to school and overheard Zhou Yun saying that her father, Junhong, had bought a pen and sent it to Zhou Yun's house as an apology. Luo Qi Qi was extremely sad. She never expected her father to believe in her and had confirmed her guilt as a thief. Zhang Jun came to school today, but he had lost his previous enthusiasm and only cared about inviting classmates to play games at his house. Luo Qi Qi angrily questioned Zhang Jun if he had even looked at the notebook she gave him. Zhang Jun remained silent, but under Luo Qi Qi's pressing, he threw the math Olympiad notebook back at her. Luo Qi Qi looked at the math notebook she had painstakingly filled out, thrown away by Zhang Jun like garbage. She got furious and beat up Zhang Jun, which led to her being taken to the principal's office for a reprimand. The teacher wanted to invite Xu Hui Zhong to the school, but Xu Hui Zhong had already returned to Hannan to deal with his father's affairs. Thinking of her beloved grandfather's passing, Luo Qi Qi, disregarding the teacher's obstruction, ran out of school wanting to go back, but she didn't know which direction to go. Xu Xiaobo happened to ride by on a tricycle and recognized Luo Qi Qi crying on the roadside. At Luo Qi Qi's plea, he took her back to her grandfather's house.
Luo Qi Qi looked at her parents dressed in mourning clothes, as well as the wreath at the door, unable to believe that her grandfather was gone. She hid in the closet as she used to and spoke to her grandfather, but no one paid attention to her anymore. Luo Qi Qi knew that her grandfather had truly passed away and would never appear again. Her childhood also came to an end at the age of ten.
