Episode 17 recap: Gu Makes a Stunning Entrance with Jiang Xi
A colleague approached Lin Shuang and confessed that they have always liked Gu Yixu. Lin Shuang said she hadn't thought about it in that way until it was brought up. The colleague mentioned that Gu Yixu has never reciprocated their feelings over the years. Lin Shuang commented that he's just that kind of person, and besides, every person who excels to the extreme has their flaws.
Huang Jiayi and Wei Ming were discussing business together. Huang Jiayi mentioned that she wanted to go shopping as a reward for closing their first deal. Wei Ming replied that he still had work to do, but Huang Jiayi expressed her desire to try the roadside pancakes. Wei Ming then bought two portions for them.
Lin Shuang consulted a lawyer to inquire about the rules for divorce court rulings. She currently has some bargaining chips, but if things don't go well, she could easily become the disadvantaged party. Huang Jiayi mentioned that she has traveled to many places and seen a lot of people and things.
Wei Ming replied that he doesn't have such a fortunate life and the places he has been to were all for work. Wei Ming asked why she chose this department to work in at Ark, and Huang Jiayi said it was because of him. She also mentioned that she has kept many things hidden. Wei Ming pointed out that she didn't provide details, and he has a wife and child. Her posts on social media could easily be misunderstood by their colleagues at the company. Huang Jiayi claimed those were just ordinary photos and, if one insists on saying so, it means she has a special place in his heart. Huang's father called Huang Jiayi and expressed his hope for her to return to the company as soon as possible. Wei Ming immediately told her to hurry back upon hearing the conversation.
Ming Bo gave a gift to Jiang Xi, and she mentioned that she has always liked luxury items, even though their prices are high. However, she still really likes this small gift. When Huang Jiayi returned home, her father asked her whose clothes she was holding. Huang Jiayi said they belonged to a colleague. Immediately, her father suggested that she should quit her job, as there have been rumors circulating among her colleagues, and he didn't know how bad they were. Huang Jiayi stated that they sent her abroad in the first place, and now they couldn't expect her to just obey them. Since they didn't want her to be with Wei Ming, she would insist on being with him.
When Lin Shuang finished work and returned home, Gu Xu joined her. Lin Shuang mentioned that after work, the fare would be tripled. Gu Xu heard that she would be picking someone up and immediately said that in that case, he would only pay one and a half times the fare. When Jiang Xi got in the car and didn't see Gu Xu behind her, she immediately started complaining.
