Episode 20 recap: Lin Shuang successfully resolves the team crisis.
Under Huang Jiayi's relentless pursuit, Wei Ming compromises and openly starts a relationship with her. However, before doing so, he also calculates Lin Shuang and plans to divorce her without any reservations. Finally, he brings Huang Jiayi home to meet his parents and solemnly introduces her as their future daughter-in-law.
Upon learning that Lin Shuang will be promoted early, Lu Si Si sarcastically comments that anyone can butter up to her. Upon discovering Lin Shuang's identity, Lu Si Si assigns her a bunch of tasks. With limited time, Lin Shuang reluctantly makes a phone call to communicate with the client. Jiang Xi reveals that he has met his mother and also has a father who ran away after incurring debt, as well as a younger brother who frequently asks him for money. Therefore, he believes they should seriously consider whether being together would be a burden.
Wei Ming asks Huang Jiayi why she's unhappy, and she questions when he will tell Lin Shuang about their situation. Wei Ming explains that divorce is not a trivial matter and, to avoid arousing discussions among colleagues, he arranges for Huang Jiayi to buy coffee when they arrive at the company. Mi Xue comments that Wei Ming and Huang Jiayi are the last ones to leave, with such dark circles under their eyes, suggesting that their relationship is not genuine love. After seeing this, Jiang Xi smiles, and Huang Jiayi demands to know what he's laughing about. She had heard rumors that he had tried to seduce Wei Ming but failed. Jiang Xi clarifies that he's not so desperate as to pick up men from the trash heap. That night, Huang Jiayi starts crying and venting her grievances, but Wei Ming promises her a surprise tonight and takes her to meet his parents.
Huang Jiayi is shocked by this arrangement. When they return home, Wei Ming explains that Jiayi is Huang Dong's daughter, and he loves her very much. That's why he must divorce Lin Shuang now. Wei Mu asks what will happen to Guoguo if they divorce, suggesting that she can help take care of the child if needed. Guoguo smells a stench coming from Wei Ming and Lin Shuang tells him to quickly go wash up. Wei Mu immediately explains that he's going to work and asks how it's possible for him to have a perfume scent if he's messing around. Wei Ming asks Lin Shuang if there's something wrong between them lately, and she assures him that everything is fine and that their current atmosphere is good. Lu Si Si scolds Lin Shuang for poor communication when problems arise with the contract, expressing her disappointment that Lin Shuang made such a mess despite being given the opportunity to handle the job.
Lin Shuang was shopping at the supermarket when she discovered that her credit card was locked. She had no choice but to call Wei Ming and ask for help. He told her that he was currently at work and suggested that she manage on her own for now because he was tight on money. Frustrated, Lin Shuang turned to Jiang Xi to vent her feelings. Lin Shuang expressed that Wei Ming's recent actions indicated his determination to get a divorce, and now she also wanted a divorce. However, she believed that the specifics of how to proceed should be up to her. Gu Xu thought that Lin Shuang's actions were driven by a desire for personal growth, but he was surprised to learn that she was taking on side jobs. He mentioned that she had never been interested in such work before and concluded that she must be doing it because she needed money. Lin Shuang suggested that it would be better to keep such matters undisclosed.
The news about Wei Ming and Huang Jiayi spread throughout the company. Jiang Xi secretly followed them and recorded some short videos, but she quickly hid when Ming Bo discovered her. Huang Jiayi asked Wei Ming why he had rented a hotel room when their previous arrangement was fine. Wei Ming explained that since he could still get a divorce, they needed to be cautious. Huang Jiayi could afford to lose her reputation, but he had come a long way and had faced many challenges, so he hoped she would give him another chance. He assured her that he would make it up to her in the future.
Ming Bo initially wanted to confess his feelings, but when he heard Gu Xu call Jiang Xi and say that he had something to do that evening, he left. Jiang Xi asked Gu Xu why he had come to see her, and he said that he wanted to inquire about Lin Shuang's situation because she wouldn't tell him directly. Gu Xu explained that he was asking as her friend, someone who stood by her side without any ulterior motives. Upon learning that they were just friends, Jiang Xi revealed that she and Lin Shuang had been together because of her past relationship with Wei Ming.
Gu Xu found Lin Shuang and expressed his desire to take her home. He acknowledged that she was under a lot of pressure at the moment but emphasized the importance of taking care of herself before sorting everything out. Lin Shuang agreed and got into the car. Gu Xu could only stand there, assuring her that he would always be there for her as a friend whenever she needed him, silently accompanying her. Jiang Xi noticed that her younger brother's work was somewhat incomprehensible and began offering him advice, but Jiang Hai quietly slipped away upon hearing her. During her work, Lu Si Si was questioned by the client, and to avoid an awkward situation, Lin Shuang stepped in to resolve the issue. Only then did Jiang Xi's intervention calm the situation. Lu Si Si admitted that she hadn't been adequately prepared for this particular task and thanked Lin Shuang for coming to her rescue.
