Episode 24 recap: Lin Shuang and Jiang Xi faced their challenges together.
When Jiang Xi saw Fang Zong's call, she didn't immediately answer or make plans to meet. Jiang Hai bluntly stated that if they had to resort to such means to obtain the money, he would rather not have it. Seeing Jiang Xi walking away, Jiang Hai could only call Lin Shuang in secret. Lin Shuang found Jiang Xi and asked what would happen to Ming Bo if she went in today. Jiang Xi revealed that they had already broken up.
Jiang Xi emphasized that she was not like Lin Shuang, and Lin Shuang acknowledged that she had seen all of Jiang Xi's flaws and knew her own shortcomings. Since Jiang Xi had sent so much money back home before, she should ask her family for help.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Xi returned home. Her mother found it hard to believe that Jiang Hai had been deceived and thought that Jiang Xi was cursing her brother's life. Jiang Xi hoped her mother would be more realistic and explained that Jiang Hai wasn't even working at the design institute, and the mistakes made were not his fault. However, they still had to repay the money. After Jiang Xi's mother made a phone call to Jiang Hai, she finally understood that the situation was real. Jiang Xi stated that if she wanted to save her son, she should take out that money.
Jiang Xi told Lin Shuang that when she was young, she used to take walks by the river with her brother. Despite resenting him, she was also grateful for him being the one who cared for her the most. Jiang Xi found Ming Bo and informed him that she had already left Fang Zong. She assured him that she could repay the money now, and this situation had taught her that a sense of security should not rely on others' charity but on one's own efforts. Jiang Xi substituted for Jiang Hai and repaid the debt, and then she took him away.
Upon borrowing a phone, Lin Shuang hurried back to inform the company. At this moment, their project couldn't be delivered on time. Lin Shuang found Gu Xu and expressed that it was her responsibility. Although she didn't provide the data herself, she blamed herself for not conducting proper testing, as she held the position of team leader and couldn't evade the responsibility. Huang Jiayi informed Wei Ming that their project couldn't be delivered on time. Wei Ming stated that he already knew. Huang Jiayi mentioned that this was a serious breach of contract. Wei Ming pointed out that Lin Shuang was in charge of the project, and he was worried that Huang's father would think it was his fault. Now that Lin Shuang caused the problem herself, he could conveniently find another company.
During the meeting, Lin Shuang admitted that the incident was her own doing and she was willing to take responsibility for it. Her colleagues reassured her that it wasn't solely her fault, and with Gu Xu present, they were confident that she wouldn't be dismissed. Lin Shuang acknowledged that it was still her own problem, and being long-time adversaries, Gu Xu would understand that she didn't want him to plead on her behalf. Lin Shuang bid farewell to her colleagues in the office, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to work with them and hoping for future encounters.
Jiang Xi asked Lin Shuang about her thoughts on working so hard to secure a job. Lin Shuang expressed that the job had encountered issues, and resigning could provide them with an excuse. Moreover, she now had work experience and had become a dependable team leader, which sounded good when spoken about. Additionally, she had the upper hand in her divorce case with Wei Ming, so she didn't need to worry too much. Lin Shuang brought Jiang Xi to her home, where Lin Fu had prepared red envelopes for everyone. Jiang Xi mentioned that it was the first time in many years that she received a red envelope. Jiang Xi ate hawthorn-flavored dumplings, and Lin Shuang remarked that Jiang Xi had spent her life healing childhood while she had used her childhood to heal her life. Fortunately, in the end, they both found redemption.
Wei Ming waited at the hotel for Huang's father for half a day, but he didn't show up. They realized that it wasn't appropriate for Wei Ming, as a married individual, to discuss marriage matters with them. Jiang Xi saw Gu Xu coming to have a meal and remarked that he watched Lin Shuang without knowing how to sympathize with him. Huang Jiayi, upon seeing Wei's parents coming to their house, appeared somewhat unhappy and mentioned that she needed to take a shower. Wei Fu asked Wei Ming about her parents, and Wei Ming stated that they didn't come at all. Gu Xu asked Lin Shuang about her plans going forward, and she expressed that she wouldn't become a housewife. With the current situation, she had plenty of time to consider new algorithms. Gu Xu considered her writing down the new algorithm, as some things require perseverance to yield benefits.
