Episode 6 recap: Lin Shuang and Gu Xu reunite.
Jiang Xi specially brought coffee to celebrate with her colleagues, but she became very angry upon hearing the news that Mi Xue had signed a big contract. She went directly to Wei Ming and asked him why he had given the contract, which she had worked hard to negotiate, to Mi Xue. Wei Ming explained that Mi Xue was an indispensable and capable asset to the company. Now that she had proposed to leave, and considering the company's current favorable situation, he had no choice but to give the contract to Mi Xue. Jiang Xi expressed her frustration, stating that he didn't care about her achievements at all. Wei Ming assured her that Mi Xue was not trustworthy and that Jiang Xi was the most important person in his eyes. He even mentioned that he had already prepared her promotion report. However, Jiang Xi admitted that she didn't know if she could trust him anymore. When Wei Ming suggested having dinner together that evening, Jiang Xi honestly stated that she had no appetite.
Jiang Xi went to the gym for a workout, and Lin Shuang brought out the shoes Jiang Xi had left behind. Jiang Xi felt that Lin Shuang was there just to witness her embarrassment. However, Lin Shuang suggested that instead of being grateful, Jiang Xi should think about their collaboration. Jiang Xi asked why Lin Shuang assumed she would agree, and Lin Shuang straightforwardly said that they were on the same path, and one day Jiang Xi would discover Wei Ming's true face. While Lin Shuang was at home, Wei Ming called asking her to bring his coat because he had an important meeting. Reluctantly, she rushed over to deliver it. There, she encountered Gu Xu, and they greeted each other warmly. Lin Shuang told him that she was now a full-time mother. At that moment, a group of junior students approached Gu Xu, expressing their admiration for him. Gu Xu mentioned that he had never been in first place during his four years of university and that the top spot always belonged to someone else. Then, he gazed at Lin Shuang and couldn't take his eyes off her.
At home, Jiang Xi received a call from the landlord, who mentioned that the rent would increase slightly. Jiang Xi initially wanted to negotiate, but Aunt Chen's attitude left her feeling helpless. In the end, she had no choice but to compromise and called Aunt Chen to agree to the one-thousand-yuan rent increase.
After picking up Gu Xu, Lin Shuang was teased by him for pressing the wrong brake pedal. She explained that she occasionally took on a few orders as a side job. However, Gu Xu noticed the materials on her backseat and suggested that coding should be her main focus instead of doing those things.
During a meeting, Wei Ming informed Jiang Xi that she was being transferred to another department as a supervisor. Jiang Xi asked him why, and Wei Ming stated that it was a decision made by the company. After the meeting, Jiang Xi messaged Wei Ming, expressing her need for an explanation. When Jiang Xi heard about the exhibition on June 30th, she candidly mentioned that it was the first time she had left work so early in her many years at the company. A colleague explained that the department she was transferred to was originally a less demanding position with little opportunity for personal gain, so it was normal for her to have a lighter workload.
While Lin Shuang was driving, she didn't notice someone in front of her due to answering a phone call. Suddenly, an electric bike fell right in front of her. The person claimed that Lin Shuang had hit them and demanded 10,000 yuan to settle the matter. In front of everyone's eyes, Lin Shuang was speechless. Jiang Xi appeared just in time and took responsibility for the situation. She stated that she would be accountable for Lin Shuang and if, after going to the hospital for tests, they found no issues, the person would have to bear the medical expenses and lost wages amounting to 20,000 yuan. The person agreed to go to the hospital after hearing this.
Upon returning home, Jiang Xi received a call from her mother, who expressed dissatisfaction with her lack of understanding. Her mother claimed to have raised her with great effort, and now that the family was facing difficulties, she asked Jiang Xi to contribute financially. Jiang Hai remarked that Jiang Xi was indeed impressive. Jiang Xi questioned Jiang Hai about the source of his money, and he admitted to embezzling her funds. Jiang Xi asked where they would sleep and what they would eat. Jiang Hai assumed that Jiang Xi would have money after closing a big deal, so he attempted to call their mother and ask for the money back. Helpless, Jiang Xi had no choice but to call Wei Ming. He claimed to have no knowledge of the situation and analyzed that the current outcome was a result of her usual high-profile behavior. Jiang Xi asked him to think of a solution and expressed her preference for the Product Department, where she could earn bonuses. Wei Ming stated that regardless of the department she was in, she would still be working under him, so there wouldn't be much difference. Jiang Xi insisted that she wanted to return to the Product Department and hoped he could help find a solution. The next day, Jiang Xi went to the gym and went straight to where Lin Shuang was.
