Episode 17 recap: Mr. Ning fell into a trap and was killed by Guan Xue.

Cui Anping was identified as a resistance fighter. Song Zhuowen arranged for the sentries to intentionally harass him. When they heard that Cui Anping was in trouble, they quickly claimed they had no association with him. Song Zhuowen frightened them, and they became afraid. They decided not to mention anything about having meals together or the fact that Song Zhuowen and Guan Xue left the city again. They pretended as if nothing had happened.

Soon, Pan Yue found these sentries and asked about the situation, following Song Zhuowen's instructions. Everything went smoothly, and Song Zhuowen breathed a sigh of relief. Pan Yue sensed that something was off with Song Zhuowen today. It turned out that someone had approached Sergeant Yang, and while they could keep quiet, Sergeant Yang might not.

After they finished using the restroom, they encountered Sergeant Yang, but luckily it was just a case of mistaken identity. Pan Yue was about to look for Sergeant Yang when they heard an explosion. They immediately informed Guan Xue. Pan Yue wouldn't let Sergeant Yang off the hook; they needed his testimony. Song Zhuowen was very worried about what to do in such a short amount of time.

Song Zhuowen and Pan Yue hurried to the location where the explosion occurred. It was a factory. They thoroughly searched inside. Hu Bin arrived shortly afterward. Pan Yue suggested dispersing the people and then looking for a bicycle tire mark. After a short investigation, Pan Yue reconstructed the crime scene. There were two individuals, one tall and one short, making explosives. The tall person had a dispute with the short person when delivering food, but suddenly there was an explosion.

Soon, they discovered two bicycle tire marks of different depths in the vicinity. Hu Bin still couldn't understand how Pan Yue discovered them, but they had no choice but to continue the investigation based on Pan Yue and Song Zhuowen's words. Although they couldn't confirm the identities of the tall and short individuals, they were all taking risks for the sake of resisting the Japanese. Song Zhuowen believed it was his duty to protect them.

Guan Kai returned home with Mr. Ning's belongings and received a phone call from Guan Xue asking why he didn't go to school. Shortly after, Guan Xue received a call from Pan Yue. Guan Kai opened the explosives given by Mr. Ning and became deeply worried upon recalling what Mr. Ning had said.

Pan Yue, Song Zhuowen, and Hu Bin pursued the investigation together. They quickly found their whereabouts. Pan Yue insisted on capturing them alive, so Hu Bin had to arrange for someone to climb in with a ladder and apprehend them.

There was an explosion as soon as the two individuals entered the place, and only one person among those who went in survived.

When Guan Xue arrived, Hu Bin and Song Zhuowen were arguing. Hu Bin accused Song Zhuowen of being cowardly, while Song Zhuowen argued that the entire operation had problems from start to finish. Guan Xue intervened and stopped their argument, instructing Song Zhuowen to take a month off and accompany the wounded in the hospital.

Guan Kai discreetly arrived at the hospital. When Song Zhuowen noticed him, Guan Kai claimed that a classmate had been injured. The Japanese wanted to replace Guan Xue but knew that finding a suitable replacement would be troublesome. It didn't matter to them who served as the section chief. Captain Asano analyzed the operation, and Guan Xue found it surprising because what he said was almost identical to what Song Zhuowen had said.

While Song Zhuowen was visiting the wounded, Guan Kai kept a close watch outside, pondering over what kind of explosive could cause such injuries. Upon hearing that Song Zhuowen was at the hospital accompanying the wounded, Captain Asano planned to make a visit. Guan Kai transferred the explosives to the water tank in the hospital restroom. Mr. Ning disguised himself as a maintenance worker and obtained the explosives. Guan Kai wanted to confirm the matter with him but was chased away by Mr. Ning.

On the way, Captain Asano and Guan Xue encountered Staff Officer Harada. Captain Asano instructed Guan Xue to drive and hit him. Guan Xue mustered the courage and drove towards him but ultimately hit the brakes. Captain Asano was furious because he had brought confidential documents along, and this incident could potentially lead to the exposure of their plans. Guan Xue parked the car at the hospital entrance, and Mr. Ning's associates took the opportunity to attach the explosives to the vehicle. Guan Kai realized that his actions today could potentially endanger Guan Xue and became extremely anxious.
