Episode 2 recap: Lu Bu Ping became a free servant in the Chun family.
Du Ru Yu, accompanied by her daughter Chun Jin Rong, was preparing to leave, but the servants at Lin Yuan Wai's mansion demanded gifts. Du Ru Yu explained to her family that she wasn't there to attend the wedding, but a few servants mistook her for a freeloader and asked her to leave. However, upon hearing the commotion, Du Ru Yu returned to argue that she wasn't there to freeload.
Coincidentally, Lin Yuan Wai arrived and encountered Du Ru Yu. Du Ru Yu explained that she had squeezed in, but Lin Yuan Wai didn't say much. However, Lin Yuan Wai also regarded Du Ru Yu and her daughter as potential freeloaders. In order to avoid suspicion, Du Ru Yu reluctantly left some money behind for the meal.
Chun Pei Lan believed that Li Teng Yun's predictions were accurate. She indeed experienced a bloody incident and also lost her purse, falling ill in the process. She found Li Teng Yun again to continue breaking the curse of bloodshed. However, Li Teng Yun raised the price, but Chun Pei Lan found her purse at Li Teng Yun's place. Consequently, she didn't need Li Teng Yun to break the curse and left with her purse.
At the gambling den, the three brothers were exposed by Lu Bu Ping, who wanted to make money. Coincidentally, Chun Pei Lan passed by with her purse, and she became the target of the brothers' first robbery attempt. Chun Pei Lan shouted for help, and Lu Bu Ping, once again, heard and came to intervene.
The three thugs at the gambling den recognized Lu Bu Ping, who was carrying a sword from the Lu family village. What is the relationship between Mu Bu Ping and Yu Bu Jiang? Mu Bu Ping claimed to be the son of Lu Jiang. However, Lu Bu Ping wasn't skilled in combat and was beaten by the three individuals. In a desperate situation, Chun Po Lang handed a stick to Lu Bu Ping, who swung it randomly and knocked out the leader of the attackers. Chun Pei Lan hurriedly took Lu Bu Ping and fled back home, both of them feeling anxious.
Du Ru Yu is preparing to open a tofu shop, but Chun Jin Rong finds it unsightly and opposes the idea. However, Chun Ban Xia supports Du Ru Yu, and everyone mistakes it for a rat infestation. Chun Jin Rong urges Chun Pei Lan to quickly catch the rats, but Chun Ban Xia provokes Chun Jin Rong once again.
While Chun Pei Lan is out, she sees people carrying Lu Bu Ping's portrait on the street and becomes nervous, searching for someone. She randomly finds a place to hide, which happens to be Li Teng Yun's fortune-telling stall.
Just as Li Teng Yun is about to deceive Chun Pei Lan, Chun Ke Ling, disguised as a man, appears with Yao Wen Yao Wu, and the two of them teach Li Teng Yun a lesson.
Lu Bu Ping eats a bun laced with rat poison and becomes poisoned. Chun Pei Lan takes care of Lu Bu Ping, who recalls everything that happened after leaving the mountain and believes that leaving was a mistake. The scene shifts to Chun Pei Lan's place, where Lu Bu Ping learns that he is being pursued outside. Therefore, Lu Bu Ping decides to leave because he believes that staying at Chun Pei Lan's house will bring him continued misfortune. Perhaps their astrological signs are incompatible, naturally conflicting.
Lu Bu Ping insists on leaving. However, Chun Pei Lan wants him to stay. While the two argue, they are discovered by Du Ru Yu. Chun Pei Lan lies, claiming that Lu Bu Ping is a servant and wants him to stay. However, Lu Bu Ping remains determined to leave. When they see soldiers passing by on the street, Lu Bu Ping immediately returns. Du Ru Yu doesn't want to keep Lu Bu Ping but, in order to convince him to stay, Chun Pei Lan acts pitiful and seizes the opportunity to plead as well.
Du Ru Yu's heart softens, and Lu Bu Ping is allowed to stay. Later that night, someone knocks on the door, and Du Ru Yu, fearing the worst, knowing that Lu Bu Ping has martial skills, sends him out. Coincidentally, the visitor turns out to be Guo Zhen Sheng, a famous doctor, and also Chun Ban Xia's literary companion.
To be honest, Chun Peilan deserves it. I find people like her the most annoying in real life. Either don't pretend to be pitiful and helpless, or take matters into your own hands. When Lu Bu Ping speaks up for her, she still hesitates and retreats.
Isn't she asking for trouble by willingly subjecting herself to mistreatment?
