Episode 5 recap: Chun Ke Ling secretly took Si Huang Zi to steal weapons.
Pei Lan was doing laundry while Lu Bu Ping sat nearby, eating fruit and enjoying himself. Pei Lan didn't say anything, but Du Ru Yu, seeing her daughter doing the laundry while Lu Bu Ping leisurely ate fruit, became very angry. Du Ru Yu approached them and took her daughter away, instructing Lu Bu Ping to do the laundry and demanding that it be finished quickly.
Chun Ke Ling went to Guo Zhen Sheng's pharmacy to seek medical treatment. The pharmacy had been quiet with little business, but upon seeing Chun Ke Ling, Guo Zhen Sheng came up with a plan. He asked Chun Ke Ling to bring all the injured martial artists from the Jianghu to his pharmacy in the future. Initially, Chun Ke Ling thought Guo Zhen Sheng had noble intentions, but when she heard that he wanted money, she refused and walked away.
Meanwhile, Lu Bu Ping was still doing the laundry. Jin Rong asked Mu Bu Ping to prepare a drink for her, which Lu Bu Ping reluctantly agreed to. However, since Lu Bu Ping was not accustomed to frightening tasks, the laundry was not finished yet. When Du Ru Yu saw that Lu Bu Ping had been taking so long and couldn't even finish such a simple task, she became angry and refused to cook for Lu Bu Ping.
Shi Zi and Li Teng Yun arrived outside Si Huang Zi's room. However, no one answered when they knocked on the door. Worried, Shi Zi brought Li Teng Yun into the room to search for Si Huang Zi. To their surprise, Si Huang Zi was really gone and had left behind a letter. It turned out that Si Huang Zi had secretly run away and asked Shi Zi for help. Shi Zi was very anxious, as it would be seen as his failure to protect Si Huang Zi if anything happened to him outside.
Unable to make a fuss, Shi Zi had to secretly search for Si Huang Zi. After finishing her exercises at home, Chun Ke Ling sneaked out by jumping over the wall and found Yao Wen Yao Wu and Si Huang Zi waiting for her. Chun Ke Ling wanted to stand up for justice with the three of them, but they were worried about the lack of weapons. Si Huang Zi informed them that he knew a place where they could obtain weapons.
Shi Zi was extremely anxious, and Li Teng Yun also went with people to search, but they still couldn't find her. At this moment, the lord of the mansion came to see Si Huang Zi. Shi Zi instructed Li Teng Yun to pretend to be Si Huang Zi and lie on the bed, claiming to feel unwell. Upon hearing this, the lord became even more worried and wanted to call the doctor. In the end, Li Cheng Yun and Shi Zi managed to deceive him.
Lu Bu Ping was scraping the bottom of the pot, but Pei Lan didn't know. She wanted to help pour out the pot residue, but Lu Bu Ping saw Pei Lan doing it and became very anxious. He shouted in distress. Just then, Du Ru Yu came and saw Lu Bu Ping's chest. Pei Lan was also angry and had a difficult time dealing with Lu Bu Ping. When she left, she even complained a few words. Feeling unfairly treated, she recalled all the work she had done throughout the day, without stopping for a moment. So she started to complain to Pei Lan.
Lu Bu Ping couldn't bear it anymore and was ready to leave. Pei Lan was also anxious and didn't want Lu Bu Ping to go. However, when she opened the door, there happened to be a pair of soldiers passing by, and Lu Bu Ping was afraid to leave.
Si Huang Zi brought Chun Ke Ling and two other people to the Ming Wang Mansion to get weapons. The three of them didn't know Si Huang Zi's identity and thought they were going to steal. Just as Si Huang Zi was about to walk through the main gate, Chun Ke Ling and the others pulled him aside and insisted that he jump over the wall. Inside the mansion, Si Huang Zi happened to encounter the lord and directly asked him for weapons. Si Huang Zi brought the obtained weapons in front of the three people.
Liu Lin's arrival is a must-watch for me. I've seen the latest episode, and one thing I can't understand is why Ke Ling can freely hit people.
Shi Zi said it's okay to hit, and I could understand it when her identity was unknown. But after knowing each other's identities, it doesn't make much sense to continue hitting, especially when Shi Zi didn't do anything. Why would they hit her?
Even if someone isn't scared, they shouldn't act like an ignorant teenager. Knowing that the other person is Shi Zi, even if they aren't afraid or worried about their family being implicated, they should immediately hold her accountable. In reality, there's no need to force humor into every situation. Deliberately trying to be funny isn't humorous; it's rather dumbing down the plot.
How can a character like Lao Si be together with the prince? It's ridiculous. When she didn't know Shi Zi's true identity, she slapped her recklessly, and even after knowing that Shi Zi was the prince, she continued to slap him. With her background and the responsibility on her family, who gave her the courage? In ancient times, offending a member of the royal family or an official could result in the punishment of the entire family. Although it's a comedy, it shouldn't be so careless...
The compatibility between characters and the believability of their relationships may not always align perfectly with real-world expectations. In fictional storytelling, there can be intentional exaggerations, inconsistencies, or liberties taken to create comedic or dramatic effects. While the plot may seem illogical or unrealistic at times, it's important to remember that it is a work of fiction and may not adhere strictly to real-life rules and logic.
I've given up! What's up with the fourth daughter? She, a commoner, dares to frequently hit Shi Zi. This setup is really hard to understand and not funny at all. It just makes me angry.
And then there's the second sister-in-law. Being thrifty is not a problem, but the whole family agrees that the food has gone bad and shouldn't be eaten after two days. Yet she insists on eating it.
Even though there's a doctor in the family who explicitly told her not to eat the mushrooms she picked, she still went ahead and did it. It's especially emphasized that being thrifty shouldn't come at the cost of risking the lives of family members.
