Episode 9 recap: The spy from Nan Qi Kingdom is killed.
In the changed competition, the first round sees Tu Qian Zhou competing against Lao Cao, and he emerges as the perfect victor, defeating Lao Cao. In the second round, Wan Yu competes against Jin Xin Xin, who has never treated her kindly. Jia Yue Gong Zhu feels regretful about their match as the two contestants have a five-point difference.
She prays for Wan Yu to regain points with her final few arrows. However, when Jin Xin Xin focuses on pulling the bowstring again, Lao Cao strikes his arm with a hidden weapon, causing the arrow to aim towards Shu Chen. Luckily, Shu Chen bends down to pick something up, narrowly avoiding being hit.
Jin Xin Xin is startled, and Tu Qian Zhou notices that Lao Cao has been scheming behind the scenes. With his actions exposed, Lao Cao takes the opportunity to escape, leading to an intense battle between the two. Lao Cao is eventually defeated. However, Wan Yu, concerned that Tu Qian Zhou might come looking for him, is kidnapped by Lao Cao as a means to threaten Tu Qian Zhou. Using eye contact and swift movements, Wan Yu signals to Tu Qian Zhou. In one swift motion, Tu Qian Zhou stabs Lao Cao in the neck, instantly killing him.
In the next competition, the teams consist of five members. Jin Xin Xin directly persuades five individuals to join his team, aiming to reach the finals. Tu Qian Zhou also writes a team list, after much contemplation and swallowing his pride, and includes several names. With the spy from Nan Qi Kingdom now eliminated, he has completed his mission and plans to leave the group. He feels reluctant to part ways with Wan Yu, but she senses his concerns and comes to comfort him.
