Episode 18 recap: Su Xiaohuan responds positively to Boqiu's affection.
Boqiu takes advantage of Su Xiaohuan's inattention and kisses her directly. Su Xiaohuan initially dodges, but then realizes that this might be an opportunity. She pushes Boqiu down onto the bed and passionately kisses him. Boqiu becomes immersed in Su Xiaohuan's kisses. At that moment, Ren Juan suddenly appears before them. Su Xiaohuan thinks it's her chance, but Boqiu sees through her intentions and seals the bed with ice.
Su Xiaohuan meets the mysterious person in black and tells him that she has gained some insights into Ren Juan. She then brings a bucket of water before the person in black and tells him that Ren Juan is inside it. The person in black clearly thinks that Su Xiaohuan is seeking death. Just as he is about to kill her, Boqiu unexpectedly appears behind Su Xiaohuan and uses magic to defeat the person in black.
Qian Sui, upon seeing this, feels jealous and naturally won't allow Boqiu to take Su Xiaohuan away. Su Xiaohuan doesn't want them to fight and hopes that they can let go of their hatred so that peace can prevail. Su Xiaohuan also doesn't want to see Boqiu killing anyone, so Boqiu takes Su Xiaohuan's hand and they leave. Boqiu brings Su Xiaohuan to the grand hall and has her sit beside him. He hands them the imperial seal and declares that he no longer wants the throne for himself.
After Boqiu and Su Xiaohuan leave, all the ministers scramble for the imperial seal. Boqiu doesn't care about the throne at all; he just wants to be with Su Xiaohuan. The two of them arrive at a refugee village where the common people are unable to have a hot meal. Su Xiaohuan and Boqiu give their silver to the other children in the village.
Boqiu actually tells Su Xiaohuan that all of this can't change anything, including his own life, and perhaps the meaning of his existence is just to have a fleeting encounter with her. Su Xiaohuan doesn't fully understand what Boqiu means, but she can only listen to him.
