Episode 5 recap: Boqiu sacrifices his life for love.
Boqiu asks Su Xiaohuan if she wants to eat the Fox Demon. Su Xiaohuan is terrified and quickly comes up with an excuse, saying that she wants to take Boqiu to see the scenery. Su Xiaohuan believes that she is doomed, but Boqiu actually agrees and asks her to lead the way. Afterwards, the two of them sit under a tree and look at the night sky. Boqiu asks Su Xiaohuan to sit closer to him, and although Su Xiaohuan is initially hesitant, she doesn't dare to defy Boqiu's wishes.
Su Xiaohuan gets closer to Boqiu, and he uses magic to make flower petals fall. Su Xiaohuan likes it very much, and Boqiu says that it's good that she likes it because it means she hasn't forgotten the past. Su Xiaohuan doesn't understand what Boqiu means, but suddenly she sees a shooting star. Su Xiaohuan is excited, and initially, Boqiu thinks that she wants him to create more for her, but Su Xiaohuan quickly refuses.
Su Xiaohuan remembers what Lord Qiansui said about the formation being activated after five shooting stars fall, and she just needs to find an excuse to leave first. Su Xiaohuan takes the opportunity to say that she has a stomachache and wants to go to the restroom, and Boqiu agrees. When he hears Su Xiaohuan sneezing, he even puts a coat on her. On the other side, Lord Qiansui is activating the formation. Su Xiaohuan is about to leave but feels a sense of unease in her heart. She still wants to leave when she suddenly sees a small dog that looks like her own pet at home, and when she sees that it's injured, she picks it up and takes it away.
However, the sky suddenly rumbles with thunder, and Boqiu is struck by lightning. The little dog accidentally runs to Boqiu's side, and Su Xiaohuan comes over to save it. During the final stage of the formation, unexpectedly, Su Xiaohuan blocks it for Boqiu. The last bolt of lightning doesn't hit Boqiu but directly strikes Su Xiaohuan, who is holding him from behind. Su Xiaohuan collapses to the ground on the spot.
