Episode 1 recap: Gao Yang, the undercover agent, returned to the team.
Gao Yang, using the alias Gao Hu, infiltrated a counterfeit money criminal gang. Over the course of six years, he gained the trust of their leader, Liu Qing. After Liu Qing's death, the mission came to an end, but Gao Yang's future father-in-law, Zheng Ying, did not return.However, Zheng Ying unexpectedly disappeared, and his fate is unknown. Gao Yang's mission was over, but he had not officially returned to the team. One day, he received a phone call from his friend Chen Xue Ying, who remained silent on the other end. Sensing something was amiss, Gao Yang decided to record the conversation.
At that moment, Chen Xue Ying was kidnapped and placed in a suitcase. She was taken by a man whom Gao Yang had never seen before to an abandoned factory. The man discovered that Chen Xue Ying's phone was still connected, so he hung up and assaulted her before taking pictures to send to the employer. Unsatisfied with the situation, the kidnapper had sinister intentions and planned to violate Chen Xue Ying.
In order to protect herself, Chen Xue Ying revealed that her father was Chen Jing Ming, a well-known local entrepreneur. The kidnapper, upon realizing he had abducted the daughter of a prominent figure, proposed a monetary exchange but insisted on completing his task first. Meanwhile, Gao Yang had managed to locate the place where Chen Xue Ying was being held captive based on the background sounds heard during their phone call. Fortunately, he arrived in time and rescued Chen Xue Ying, allowing her to escape the ordeal.
Gao Yang also gave the kidnapper a severe lesson, and when the kidnapper escaped, Gao Yang decided not to pursue him further. Instead, he quickly checked on Chen Xue Ying's condition. By then, Chen Xue Ying was in a state of shock and confusion due to the traumatic experience. Chen Jing Ming and his son, Chen Jia Dong, were extremely worried upon learning about Chen Xue Ying's abduction. Chen Jing Ming, who had a long-standing friendship with Captain Li, sought his assistance and provided him with relevant information. Chen Jia Dong, Chen Xue Ying's brother, was deeply distressed upon hearing the news of his sister's kidnapping.
Chen Xue Ying's classmates also reported the incident, and Deputy Captain Zheng Dong Yu of the police force arrived with his team. They apprehended Gao Yang, mistaking him for the kidnapper. Zheng Dong Yu and Gao Yang came face to face, marking their reunion after six years.
In the past, Gao Yang's father was murdered, and Zheng Dong Yu's father, Zheng Ying, along with the current Captain Li, was responsible for the investigation. Later, Gao Yang was effectively adopted by Zheng Ying, who was a few years older than him, and Zheng Dong Yu treated him like a younger brother.
Over time, feelings developed between the two, and before Gao Yang enlisted in the military, he confessed his love to Zheng Dong Yu. When he returned to this place, it was Zheng Ying who brought him here, hoping that Captain Li would take him as an apprentice. However, since Captain Li was currently only responsible for logistical work, he couldn't take Gao Yang under his wing. Nevertheless, Zheng Ying informed Captain Li that Gao Yang was already his prospective son-in-law and hoped that he would accept Gao Yang as his apprentice, considering that Captain Li had watched the boy grow up.
Captain Li didn't hesitate and agreed to take Gao Yang as his apprentice. Gao Yang was taken to the police station for questioning, and Captain Li dismissed everyone else, even instructing the surveillance cameras to be turned off. He even prevented Zheng Dong Yu from interrogating Gao Yang. Captain Li informed Gao Yang that there was no surveillance or anyone else present and welcomed him back to the team.
Gao Yang's previous rebelliousness instantly vanished, and he was filled with excitement as he looked at his master before him. After all these years, he had finally returned to the police force.
