Episode 8 recap: Chen Jing Ming committed suicide in the hospital.

Chen Jing Ming committed suicide by cutting his wrists in the hospital. Upon learning the news, Captain Li rushed to the hospital and found out that Chen Jia Dong had visited in the afternoon and had Chen Jing Ming sign a document. It was only after signing the document that Chen Jing Ming took his own life. Although Chen Jia Dong did not enter the hospital room, his involvement in the signing of the document cannot be ignored.

With Chen Jing Ming's death, the police investigation into him was terminated. Gao Yang informed Lei Nai Wu about Chen Jing Ming's suicide, and Lei Nai Wu was devastated by the news. Despite their conflicts and grievances, Chen Jing Ming's existence was still beneficial to him, as he hoped to receive a sum of money from Chen Jing Ming.

Lei Nai Wu couldn't understand the reason behind Chen Jing Ming's suicide. Chen Xue Ying hadn't seen her father for several days and asked Uncle Guan about it, only to find out that her father had passed away two days ago. Chen Xue Ying's mental state collapsed once again, and with Uncle Guan's comfort, she finally managed to fall asleep.

Chen Jia Dong was about to inherit the Chen Group. After enduring for so many years, he had finally gotten rid of the culprit who killed his mother. For Chen Jing Ming's funeral, Chen Jia Dong decided not to invite outsiders. Only he and Chen Xue Ying would attend. Even Uncle Guan, who had accompanied Chen Jing Ming for most of his life, was sent away by Chen Jia Dong. Chen Jia Dong bought him a plane ticket for the next day to go abroad and find his son, allowing him to enjoy his later years. He also gave Uncle Guan nine million yuan.

Uncle Guan hoped to accompany Chen Jing Ming on his final journey, but Chen Jia Dong politely declined. Chen Jia Dong was worried that the night was long and full of dreams. If they delayed further, Uncle Guan might not be able to leave. Uncle Guan understood his intentions. While Gao Yang and Zheng Dong Yu were sorting through Zheng Ying's belongings, they discovered a secret in his work diary—a sum of money sent to Gao Jia Ling. After searching the archives, Zheng Dong Yu confirmed that Gao Jia Ling was Zheng Ying's informant. She speculated that Zheng Ying and Gao Jia Ling might have known each other before she and Gao Yang were born.

Zheng Dong Yu immediately informed Gao Yang about the results. Gao Yang couldn't understand why Zheng Ying had kept it a secret from him. Zheng Dong Yu comforted Gao Yang not to overthink and suggested that perhaps in another world, their father was having a drink and chatting. Therefore, Zheng Dong Yu encouraged Gao Yang to stay strong.

Chen Xue Ying fell ill, and Chen Jia Dong had no choice but to contact Gao Yang. Gao Yang rushed to the Chen family's house and saw that Chen Xue Ying was in a very bad condition. She didn't believe that her father had passed away and claimed to have seen him last night. She even went crazy, believing that a tree had affected the Feng Shui of the house and brought bad luck, causing her father's death.

Lei Nai Wu arranged for his subordinates to capture Uncle Guan. A former associate who had recently joined Lei Nai Wu's side had a good relationship with Gao Yang. However, when he tried to send a text message to Zheng Dong Yu as a warning, he was caught. Lei Nai Wu despised traitors the most and ordered his men to severely beat him.

Upon receiving the news, Gao Yang immediately rushed back. Unexpectedly, Lei Nai Wu kept testing him. It was only after seeing Xiao Kai that Gao Yang understood what was going on. However, when Xiao Kai sought refuge with Lei Nai Wu initially, Gao Yang had disagreed. It was Lei Nai Wu who decided to take him in after seeing him. Little did they know that they were digging their own graves.

Lei Nai Wu wanted to kill Xiao Kai on the spot, but Gao Yang swiftly knocked him unconscious. On the surface, he didn't want to give the traitor an easy way out, but deep down, he wanted Xiao Kai to survive. Chen Jia Dong had always kept his secrets hidden. In reality, he was the one who provided the ink back then. Chen Jing Ming never expected his own son to be involved in this incident.

Regarding the ink formula, Chen Jia Dong and his classmate each had half of it. So, he instructed Liu Qing to find a way to force the other half out of his classmate. Lei Nai Wu was responsible for executing this task. After Chen Jia Dong's classmate wrote down the formula, he was killed and thrown into the river.
