Episode 7 recap: Gu Yan Zhi bowed down to the interests of the employees, and Little O and Gu Si Yu became friends.
Due to Gu Yan Zhi's refusal to proceed with the third phase of the experiment, Gaoshen Group threatened to fire one employee every day, forcing Gu Yan Zhi to compromise. When Gu Yan Zhi made a scene at Gaoshen Group, advocating for everyone's rights, it was of no use. He could only resign voluntarily to protect the employees.
The employees stood united with Gu Yan Zhi, causing Gaoshen Group to back down and give Gu Yan Zhi three days to reconsider. Gu Yan Zhi sought information from Lao Sui and learned that the board of directors had already decided to proceed with the third phase of the experiment. If Gu Yan Zhi didn't agree, the board would find other researchers to take over, leaving the hematology patients with inferior medicines.
Gu Yan Zhi didn't want to compromise, but Lao Sui's words made him hesitate because he had to consider the well-being of so many employees at the research institute. He couldn't just leave them behind. Gu Yan Zhi was in a dilemma, but when he heard that the research institute employees were worried about Gaoshen Group withdrawing its funding, and without their salaries, their lives would be greatly affected, Gu Yan Zhi started to waver.
During Gu Yan Zhi's moment of wavering, Yan Mo noticed that he had something on his mind and had a conversation with him. After learning about Gu Yan Zhi's dilemma, Yan Mo gave him advice, making Gu Yan Zhi understand that science must be rigorous and that he shouldn't compromise with the board of directors.
Gu Yan Zhi initially had compromised, but Yan Mo's words changed his mind. This made Lao Sui angry, as he wanted to eliminate Yan Mo as the biggest obstacle. Gu Yan Zhi didn't want to change his stance, but he couldn't ignore the future of the employees. Therefore, he decided to attend Gaoshen Group's annual conference and try to persuade CEO Zhao to give him more time.
Gu Yan Zhi humbled himself and apologized to CEO Zhao but unexpectedly faced deliberate difficulties. CEO Zhao spilled wine on Gu Yan Zhi's shoes and asked him to clean them. Gu Yan Zhi was threatened by CEO Zhao and was willing to bear the humiliation and clean CEO Zhao's shoes. However, Yan Mo intervened and poured a glass of champagne onto CEO Zhao's shoes to defuse the situation for Gu Yan Zhi.
Yan Mo pretended to be intoxicated and engaged in small talk with CEO Zhao, deliberately making a scene to prevent CEO Zhao from taking advantage of the situation to trouble Gu Yan Zhi. Due to Yan Mo's interference, CEO Zhao couldn't force Gu Yan Zhi, but he still harbored ill feelings and was contemplating how to make Gu Yan Zhi pay the price.
When CEO Zhao wanted to deal with Gu Yan Zhi, Lao Sui came up with another plan: to hand over all of Gu Yan Zhi's experimental data to CEO Zhao so that someone else could take over, allowing Gu Yan Zhi to continue his second phase of the experiment. CEO Zhao agreed to Lao Sui's plan, and during the annual conference, Lao Sui announced that Gaoshen Group would establish a new experimental base, emphasizing that everything would continue under Gu Yan Zhi's leadership.
Gu Si Yu attended the annual meeting and relentlessly handed out business cards to attract investments. However, as she was not good at socializing, she didn't succeed in securing any investments. Zhou Han Zhang noticed Gu Si Yu's struggle with investment and approached her, wanting to invest in her. However, Gu Si Yu refused to accept his offer.
Feeling unhappy, Gu Si Yu went somewhere to calm down. Suddenly, she saw a shooting star and immediately made a wish, hoping for someone to invest and for a handsome and caring boyfriend. After making her wish, Gu Si Yu opened her eyes and saw Little O in front of her, making her think that her wish had come true. She felt a bit embarrassed, but Little O considered her his best friend and was very happy about it.
Little O happily went home and activated the "close friend mode," sharing the news of becoming good friends with Gu Si Yu. Yan Mo was surprised but didn't want Little O to bother her, so she allowed Little O to accompany Gu Si Yu. Following Yan Mo's instructions, Little O started to stay by Gu Si Yu's side, but Gu Si Yu, who didn't understand the situation, found him annoying and wanted to call for help. However, it was of no use as Little O couldn't comprehend her intentions.
Gu Si Yu learned that someone was interested in investing in the company and prepared to meet the investor with excitement. However, to her surprise, the person, Mr. Chen, who intended to take advantage of women under the guise of investment, not only arrived late but also made Gu Si Yu serve him deliberately. Gu Si Yu tried to endure and prevent Mr. Chen from taking advantage of her, but he continuously forced her to drink alcohol.
Seeing Gu Si Yu drinking so much, Little O wanted to help her resist the alcohol. However, Mr. Chen was dissatisfied and directly handed the bottle to Little O to drink instead. Gu Si Yu could tolerate being mistreated herself but couldn't let Little O suffer. She couldn't let him drink so much, so she took the bottle from him and toasted Mr. Chen herself.
Mr. Chen thought Gu Si Yu had finally understood and expected her to behave well. However, Gu Si Yu intentionally filled his glass to the brim, provoking his anger. She scolded him and angrily left with Little O. After Gu Si Yu left, she wanted Little O to leave as well, but Little O didn't understand her distress and insisted on staying by her side as a good friend. This made Gu Si Yu so angry that she wanted to hit him.
Later that night, a mysterious figure dressed in black broke into the laboratory and stole blood samples.
