Episode 8 recap: Old Sui falsely accuses Yan Mo of being a spy. Song Ranran falls in love with Lu Fei Yan.
Gu Yan Zhi's assistant informs him that the samples in the laboratory may have been stolen because the quantity of samples has significantly decreased, far beyond their consumption. The surveillance cameras couldn't identify the person who stole the samples. Suspecting that the thief is associated with Zhao, Gu Yan Zhi calls Zhao, but Zhao appears indifferent and unconcerned. This makes Gu Yan Zhi suspicious that the person who stole the samples might be working for Zhao.
With his suspicions, Gu Yan Zhi immediately goes to find Old Sui and informs him about the stolen samples. Worried that Gu Yan Zhi might suspect him, Old Sui temporarily puts a stop to the sample theft. Xiao Zi Bai needs money for her daughter's surgery, and she witnesses the scene where the samples are stolen. She also takes the surveillance video and decides to use it to extort money for her daughter's treatment.
During the annual meeting, Xiao Zi Bai overhears a conversation between Old Sui and Zhao, discovering that Old Sui plans to deceive Gu Yan Zhi by giving the data to Zhao. She directly confronts Old Sui with the video evidence. Old Sui agrees to give Xiao Zi Bai 300 dollars and asks her to keep it a secret. He also requests that Xiao Zi Bai write down what she witnessed and send it to him when he needs it.
After reaching an agreement with Xiao Zi Bai, Old Sui instructs someone to provide Song Ranran with the investigation materials on Yan Mo. He intends to use this opportunity to drive Yan Mo away from Gu Yan Zhi. Song Ranran recalls some interesting moments spent with Lu Fei Yan and finds him adorable, so she asks Lu Fei Yan out to meet.
When Song Ranran meets Lu Fei Yan, she receives a package sent by Old Sui. Upon opening it, she discovers evidence of Yan Mo's forged identity. Learning about Yan Mo's situation, Song Ranran suspects that Yan Mo is a spy. She arranges a meeting with Gu Yan Zhi to explain everything to him.
Gu Yan Zhi expresses absolute trust in Yan Mo's character and refuses to believe any accusations made by Song Ranran. Failing to convince Gu Yan Zhi, Song Ranran decides to show him the evidence. However, Lu Fei Yan intervenes, snatches the evidence, and takes Song Ranran away.
Lu Fei Yan assures Song Ranran that neither he nor Yan Mo would harm the relationship between Gu Yan Zhi and Song Ranran. He asks Song Ranran to trust him and keep this matter a secret. Although angry, Song Ranran agrees to Lu Fei Yan's request and promises not to mention Yan Mo again. Lu Fei Yan tears up the evidence and throws it into the trash bin.
After Lu Fei Yan and Song Ranran leave, Gu Yan Zhi retrieves the evidence from the trash bin, pieces it together, and discovers the truth about Yan Mo's fabricated identity.
When Gu Yan Zhi is suspecting Yan Mo's identity and her feelings towards him, Old Sui instructs Xiao Zi Bai to send an email, publicly exposing the irregular experiments conducted by Gao Shen Group.
When the email is made public, Zhao and Old Sui investigate the truth within the company. Xiao Zi Bai cooperates with Old Sui and frames everything on Yan Mo, claiming that she stole the samples and experimental data. After falsely accusing Yan Mo, Old Sui also states that Yan Mo's identity is fabricated and that she might be a corporate spy, intentionally getting close to Gu Yan Zhi to steal data.
Gu Yan Zhi doesn't believe that Yan Mo is a corporate spy, but he can't provide any evidence to defend her. Yan Mo, knowing that she has been framed, immediately goes to find Gu Yan Zhi to explain everything and make him aware that it is all a plot by Old Sui. Yan Mo explains that it is Old Sui's scheme to drive her away from Gu Yan Zhi, but she can't reveal her identity as a time traveler to Gu Yan Zhi because it would render all her efforts futile.
Yan Mo refuses to disclose her identity, which deeply saddens Gu Yan Zhi. He is unable to trust Yan Mo and can only ask her to leave. Gu Siyu learns that Gu Yan Zhi has been deceived by Yan Mo and tries to comfort him, but Gu Yan Zhi doesn't want to hear her consolation and she leaves. As Gu Siyu leaves, Little O approaches her again, but she directs her anger at Little O, accusing her of being an accomplice to a fraud, and tells her not to come looking for her again. Little O feels upset about losing Gu Siyu as a friend, while Yan Mo is upset about being misunderstood by Gu Yan Zhi and is worried about his well-being. Lu Fei Yan advises them not to act recklessly and to wait until the time machine is successful.
Lu Fei Yan explains that once they return to the future and he erases this time travel journey, history will return to its original course, and Gu Yan Zhi won't be in any trouble. He asks Yan Mo not to worry about Gu Yan Zhi anymore. Song Ranran misses Lu Fei Yan and realizes that she has developed feelings for him. So she takes the initiative to go and find Lu Fei Yan. When Song Ranran sees Lu Fei Yan, she becomes very forward and tries to "wall slam" him, but Lu Fei Yan gets nervous and accidentally falls into his own study, exposing the analysis chart he had posted on the wall.
Lu Fei Yan had put up everything about Song Ranran and Gu Yan Zhi on the wall in the form of charts, and there was also a glowing book that surprised Song Ranran. Lu Fei Yan can't explain and can only deceive Song Ranran by claiming to be an alien.
