Episode 40 recap: Shen Mi proposes to Tian Tian.
Shen Mi comes to find Tian Tian, and Tian Tian asks where Shen Mi wants to take her. Shen Mi says he wants to take Tian Tian to Lvchuan and tell her everything. Lvchuan is currently holding a shareholders' meeting, and Shen Hong Yuan states that the media is now aware of the situation, causing significant impact. The most important thing is to quickly select a leader to solve these matters.
Shen Hong Yuan volunteers himself and asks the supporting shareholders to raise their hands. Shen Chen is the first to raise his hand, and many other shareholders of Shen Hong Yuan also raise their hands. The only one remaining silent is Shen Mi's mother. Shen Hong Yuan emphasizes the urgent situation and warns that if Shen Mi's mother continues to act emotionally, it will cause significant problems.
Shen Mi brings Tian Tian over, but Shen Hong Yuan says that neither of them are associated with Lvchuan and asks them to leave. Han Meng Nan arrives with evidence, stating that he has investigated and the person who leaked this information to the media is Shen Hong Yuan.
Han Meng Nan reveals that Shen Hong Yuan, for his own interests, disclosed this information to the media, disregarding the interests of the shareholders and stakeholders. He asserts that such a person is unfit to be the CEO. Shen Mi also presents evidence, explaining that she has been staying at Lvchuan as Shen Mi for many years with the intention of uncovering the truth about what happened back then. After years of investigation and research, she has finally discovered it. She reveals that Shen Mi's father went to Thailand because a batch of dog food for which Shen Hong Yuan was responsible had severe quality issues.
Shen Mi asks Shen Hong Yuan if he can truly admit that his negligence caused the events back then. Seeing the evidence, Shen Hong Yuan acknowledges his actions and admits that he was deceived as well. He claims that he originally intended to resolve the matter, but Shen Mi's father insisted on going to Thailand, finding evidence, and leaving him with no other choice.
Grandpa Shen also arrives and clarifies that Shen Hong Yuan misunderstood the situation. He explains that they went to Thailand back then to help Shen Hong Yuan solve these issues. Moreover, Shen Mi's father had no intention of informing Grandpa Shen about the matter; he wanted to keep it a secret on behalf of Shen Hong Yuan.
Shen Hong Yuan is shocked and surprised by the revelation of the true events.
Shen Mi explains that she has investigated for a long time, and she initially believed that the incident was related to Shen Hong Yuan, which is why she ran away. However, she has now discovered the truth. It was indeed an accident involving Shen Mi's father because of unstable voltage and frequent electrical leaks in that area, which caused his death.
Grandpa Shen takes responsibility for the misunderstanding, as he initially wanted to motivate Shen Hong Yuan but unintentionally made Shen Hong Yuan believe that he favored Shen Chen over him. Shen Hong Yuan apologizes to Grandpa Shen. Grandpa Shen is unsure whether the position of CEO should be given to Shen Chen or Shen Mi. Both Shen Chen and Shen Mi show humility and defer to each other, and Grandpa Shen understands.
Shen Mi's mother asks Shen Mi to call her "Mom" again, and Shen Mi does so. Shen Chen becomes the chairman of Lvchuan, and Shen Mi becomes the CEO. Shen Mi delegates all the tasks to Shen Chen, which frustrates him.
Tian Tian and Shen Mi receive wedding invitations from Han Meng Nan and Gu Ming Ze. Tian Tian is happy to see the two of them getting together. Soon, it's the Lunar New Year, and both families celebrate together. Shen Chen is shocked to learn that Shen Mi hasn't proposed to Tian Tian yet.
Shen Mi reveals that she is actually prepared. Fireworks light up outside, with a message asking Tian Tian to marry him. Shen Mi presents a ring, kneels down on one knee, and asks Tian Tian if she is willing to marry him. Tian Tian is deeply moved and accepts the proposal. Shen Mi puts the ring on Tian Tian's finger, and the two embrace passionately.
