Episode 8 recap: Zhou Xiaofeng treated everyone to a meal.
Fang Xiaoran mentioned that Zhou Xiaofeng was treating them to a meal and asked if Lin Yi was really not going. Lin Yi confirmed that they wouldn't be attending. Fang Xiaoran shared that they used to envy others for having older brothers, but ever since meeting Zhou Xiaofeng, they no longer felt that way. Fang Xiaoran wondered why families that had gone through divorce could not get along, while others could. Lin Yi went to the intensive care unit to check on the patients and noticed that each patient had something they liked or a photo of their family placed beside their beds, which improved their mood. Lin Yi learned that this was Fang Xiaoran's idea and thought it was great.
Fang Xiaoran mentioned again that Zhou Xiaofeng was treating them to a meal and asked if Lin Yi was really not going. Lin Yi explained that they had something to attend to at home. Fang Xiaoran jokingly suggested that Lin Yi might have a "Tianluo girl" at home, otherwise why would they return home on time every day. Lin Yi confirmed that they indeed had a "Tianluo girl" at home and more than one.
Zhou Xiaofeng treated everyone from the Cardiac Center to a meal and spoke a few words. Previously, everyone had perceived Zhou Xiaofeng as distant and aloof, but this time, they realized that Zhou Xiaofeng was not like that at all. Zhou Xiaofeng acknowledged their own character flaws, being accustomed to being alone, and expressed the hope that they could all work together and help each other in the future. Han Xiao also stood up to thank Zhou Xiaofeng, noting that if it weren't for Zhou Xiaofeng handling the situation, they wouldn't have been able to stay in the hospital. They all drank quite a bit and were in good spirits.
Lin Yi's older brother was taking a walk downstairs, and Lin Yi was accompanying him. There was also a dog nearby, which Lin Yi's brother explained belonged to their neighbor. The neighbor had gone on a trip, and the dog couldn't handle car rides, so they asked Lin Yi to take care of it for two days.
Lin Yi received a call from their teacher's wife and learned that Director Cao had suffered a stroke and was admitted to the hospital. Lin Yi rushed to the hospital. Director Cao's condition was relatively good, and with proper rest, they would recover. However, there was a long queue for their surgery, and many people had come specifically because of Director Cao's reputation. Lin Yi assured Director Cao that they would handle the situation. After the gathering, many people had consumed alcohol. Fang Xiaoran said they would take a taxi home, and Wang Zhuren happened to see Zhou Xiaofeng and asked how they were planning to leave. Zhou Xiaofeng mentioned that they had called a designated driver.
Director Wang asked Zhou Xiaofeng to take Fang Xiaoran home along the way, as he didn't want the girl to go home alone. Zhou Xiaofeng agreed. Fang Xiaoran had quite a few drinks and felt that they should have come to work here earlier so they could have seen Zhou Xiaofeng sooner.
Fang Xiaoran mentioned that they used to envy others for having older brothers, but ever since meeting Zhou Xiaofeng, they no longer felt that way. Since Fang Xiaoran had consumed quite a bit of alcohol, Zhou Xiaofeng could only accompany them home. Fang Zhuqing invited Zhou Xiaofeng to come inside and sit for a while.
Fang Zhuqing felt sorry for Zhou Xiaofeng, but at the time, they didn't have many choices. It was either abandoning Zhou Xiaofeng and coming to work in Dongjiang or staying in that small town for the rest of their life. Fang Zhuqing expressed the intention to bring Zhou Xiaofeng to their side after achieving success.
Zhou Xiaofeng felt that Fang Zhuqing didn't need to be so self-pitying. They achieved success for themselves, not for Fang Zhuqing. Fang Xiaoran realized their own lack of consideration, and Fang Zhuqing didn't say much. Fang Xiaoran wondered why their divorced family couldn't get along when many others could.
Fang Zhuqing explained that after the divorce, they were busy with work and could only go back home once in a long time. Additionally, other members of Zhou Xiao Feng's family were not willing to let them see Zhou Xiaofeng, so they could only meet once a year. Fang Zhuqing hoped that they could be polite and respectful to each other in the future.
Zhou Xiaofeng recalled a past incident when they saw Fang Zhuqing at school. Fang Zhuqing gave them a puzzle, but later Zhou Xiaofeng heard from their father that Fang Zhuqing was going abroad and wouldn't be able to come back for a long time, so they threw away the puzzle.
Lin Yi had arranged everything for the other patients under Director Cao's care, except for one patient named Yan Zong, who insisted on waiting for Director Cao to come back for surgery. Director Cao mentioned that they wouldn't recover so quickly, and they might never be able to perform surgery again in their lifetime. They acknowledged Lin Yi's abilities and believed that Lin Yi could handle the surgery well, so they wanted Yan Zong to go to Lin Yi for the operation.
After Xiaoran got drunk, he immediately became lively. Director Zhou was obviously a little uncomfortable because the two siblings hadn't spent much time together, and he didn't want to see their mother.
How did the designated driver manage to hold back his laughter? The level of Xiaoran's antics after drinking made Director Zhou's head buzz. Xiaoran asked, "Brother, do you know when we first met?
" Director Zhou lied! How could he forget the scene of meeting his younger sister for the first time? Director Zhou is harsh towards you because he loves you, but he doesn't know how to express it.
When Xiaoran mentioned their mother, Director Zhou's expression changed. She has never forgiven her mother. Haha, Xiaoran, you're such a clever little devil. You were just hopping around and almost sprained your foot.
Then, you had a brilliant idea to let your brother go home with you.
The acting skills... You deserve an Oscar! After Director Zhou entered the room, he seemed a bit lost or rather nervous.
Xiaoran, you really know how to find a seat for your brother. Right in front are those photos. Those photos are even sadder for Director Zhou because none of them include him. And what kind of emotions does their mother have at this moment?
She abandoned her son for the sake of her career. I really can't understand what's more important, a career or a child. If you didn't want to get married or have children in the first place, why did you give birth to him?
Neglecting to raise him, how can you expect Director Zhou to acknowledge you? You make Director Zhou understand your painstaking efforts. When Director Zhou was very young, he watched others being doted on by their mothers, but he didn't have a mother to love him.
His father was busy, and he was alone at home.
