Episode 4 recap: Shen Huai Jin took the punishment for Li Caiwei.
Li Caiwei and Shen Huai Jin played until late at night before returning. They lost all the money they had won at the gambling den in the brothel, including the token bracelet that the prince had given to Li Caiwei. Li Caiwei seemed indifferent, telling the prince that money was just an external thing and once spent, it was spent.
When they arrived at the gates of the prince's mansion and saw them tightly closed, Shen Huai Jin explained that the prince had a rule to lock the gates at midnight, and now they couldn't get in. Shen Huai Jin was unable to walk due to the beating. With the support of Guo An and Li Caiwei, he returned to his room. Liu Jingshu, the niece of the princess, had always been infatuated with Shen Huai Jin. She insisted on helping him wash his body, but Li Caiwei stopped her, saying that the wounds should not come into contact with water. This led to an argument between the two of them.
Shen Huai Jin intervened and stopped them. Guo An came and applied his family's ancestral golden wound medicine to the prince's injuries. Dingxiang and the princess conspired, believing that the prince's punishment was too lenient. The princess gritted her teeth and said that the prince couldn't forget Shen Huai Jin's mother, which was why he protected Shen Huai Jin. She was determined not to let him have his way.
