Episode 15 recap: Zuo Shuang Tao escapes danger.
Seeing Zuo Shuang Tao in front of him, Chen Jia Ping ran excitedly to greet him. His heart was in his throat as he saw Zuo Shuang Tao coughing up blood. After Chen Jia Ping woke up from the nightmare, he eagerly embraced Zuo Shuang Tao, afraid of any harm coming to him. Seeing that Zuo Shuang Tao was safe, Chen Jia Ping continued to urge him to close the windows properly and not to fall.
After Zhao An arrived at the scene, he immediately saw a sea of red lights. His subordinates reported to him about the ambush they encountered. Hearing this, Zhao An became excited and realized that some of those people were intentionally led by Luo Guan Qun. It was Luo Guan Qun who rushed to the scene as soon as he received the news, intending to claim credit and rewards. Unexpectedly, he fell into a trap set by the Mei Hua Four. Realizing this, Zhao An knew that he was in trouble. He quickly connected the Mei Hua Four with Chen Jia Ping.
By daylight, Zhao An was tied with a rope behind Major Mukai's horse. However, he continued to smile and apologize in front of him. After reading the newspaper, Zhao An learned about the news of Sino-Japanese negotiations. The Japanese man in front of him blamed Zhao An for causing embarrassment. Zhao An explained that he didn't intentionally let Director Jiang go, but it was the Mei Hua Four who played tricks behind the scenes. Seeing his superior getting angry, Zhao An quickly revealed what he knew about the identity of the Mei Hua Four.
After returning, Zhao An publicly called Chen Jia Ping over to question whether he was part of the Mei Hua Four. Seeing Chen Jia Ping's puzzled expression, the person in front of him continued to be incredulous and vividly described the scene where the Mei Hua Four deliberately caused chaos in the villa, exposing their whereabouts and making the enemy alert.
After listening to the analysis, Chen Jia Ping showed no signs of fear and continued to cooperate with the person in front of him, clearing his suspicion. Just as he finished fingerprinting, one of Zhao An's suspended subordinates came in to report on their work. The subordinate also mentioned the nun who rescued people at Director Jiang's scene, revealing that she was pretending to be someone else.
Immediately, Zuo Shuang Tao was called to the scene by Zhao An and confronted face to face. They pointed out that it was Mrs. Chen who disguised herself as a nun and caused the disturbance. Upon hearing these words, Zuo Shuang Tao held her husband's arm and calmly recounted her whereabouts at that time. Chen Jia Ping hurriedly interjected, affirming that his wife was not affiliated with the Military Statistics Bureau, but the Japanese officials did not believe their continued lies. They continued to press the person in front of them to confess everything honestly.
However, the witness Xiao Fan suddenly encountered a problem on the way. Upon learning this, Chen Jia Ping took the opportunity to further point out to Major Mukai the similarities between Director Jiang's bandaging technique and Feng Qi's intimate associates mentioned in the newspaper. Seeing this mud being thrown at him, Feng Qi quickly tried to exonerate himself, passionately expressing his unwavering loyalty to the Great Japanese Empire and vowing not to engage in any acts of transgression or betrayal.
However, the Japanese officials were not interested in his cunning arguments. Seeing this, Feng Qi decided to make a desperate move and planned to hold Major Mukai hostage, intending to exchange him for Zuo Shuang Tao. Fortunately, Chen Jia Ping successfully rescued his wife in the critical moment. As they left, Chen Jia Ping planned to seek assistance from the organization for Zuo Shuang Tao's involvement in his work, but his request was rejected by his own people.
While walking together, Zuo Shuang Tao and Chen Jia Ping realized that they deliberately conspired with Director Jiang to frame Feng Qi.
