Episode 1 recap: The wealthy daughter from Southeast Asia was mistaken for the bride.
The story takes place on a night, eighteen years ago, when the entire Xue family was brutally massacred. These ruthless individuals showed no mercy, leaving no trace behind as the rain washed away the bloodstains. However, a young girl managed to hide in another room and went unnoticed. The news reported that the Xue family, along with their three-member household and servants, perished in a fire, but the truth was that the arson was intended to conceal the real facts.
Eighteen years later, the wedding banquet at the Zhu mansion was about to commence. However, the young master Zhu Guan Wen (played by Yang Ye Ming) was nowhere to be found, causing great distress to his parents, who sent people in search of their son. Zhu Guan Wen had just woken up from bed, partially naked, when a woman suddenly knocked on the door and entered, instructing Zhu Guan Wen not to make any noise.
The two stood close together, and Zhu Guan Wen immediately noticed the teardrop mole at the corner of the woman's eye, just like the one he had seen on Xue Tong (played by Chen Shu Jun), the daughter of the Xue family, all those years ago. Zhu Guan Wen remained silent as several men dressed in black approached and knocked on the door. Zhu Guan Wen frightened them away, and once the villains had left, Xue Tong prepared to leave as well.
Zhu Guan Wen called her back and asked her to reveal her name. Xue Tong did not disclose her real name but introduced herself as Lin Bao'er. Pointing a gun at Lin Bao'er, Zhu Guan Wen made her believe that he had fallen into her trap. Both of them had some martial arts skills, and in the midst of struggling with each other, the gun ended up in Lin Bao'er's hands.
Lin Bao'er deliberately made Zhu Guan Wen lower his guard, pretending to let him kiss her. However, at the last moment, Lin Bao'er left, leaving Zhu Guan Wen intrigued by her. Before departing, Lin Bao'er left an invitation to her engagement banquet. Zhu Guan Wen smiled and remarked, "It seems the main character is about to make an entrance."
Today, Zhu Guan Wen is engaged to Dou Lili, the daughter of Mayor Dou. However, Lin Bao'er was stopped at the door because she dropped the invitation. Zhu Guan Wen quickly returned for her, knowing that Lin Bao'er was intentionally waiting for him. Lin Bao'er came back with Zhu Guan Wen, holding his hand, and they entered the mansion together. Zhu Guan Wen was aware of Lin Bao'er's intentions.
Inside, Dou Lili noticed Lin Bao'er standing nearby and began mocking her. Zhu Guan Wen informed Dou Lili that Lin Bao'er was an esteemed guest of the family, causing Dou Lili to quickly change her attitude. Zhu Guan Wen remarked that since Lin Bao'er had made her move and tried to lure him into the game, this time they would play big.
Dou Lili saw Zhu Guan Wen leaving and hurriedly followed him. In the process, she accidentally bumped into a servant holding a wine glass. Dou Lili began blaming and even attempting to hit the servant. Fortunately, Lin Bao'er intervened in time and saved the servant, leaving Dou Lili falling to the ground. Zhu Guan Wen's father, accompanied by his mistress, came out and was about to announce the engagement between his son and Dou Lili. At that moment, Zhu Guan Wen arrived, surprising everyone in the room, including Lin Bao'er, as they all expected Zhu Guan Wen to introduce Dou Lili. It turned out that Lin Bao'er was standing next to him. Everyone was astonished by this unexpected turn of events.
In reality, the incident from years ago involved the collaboration of the Zhu family, Dou family, Inspector Yang, and Qian Tong. Xue Tong, who had been hiding nearby, fortunately escaped being killed. However, she witnessed everything firsthand.
