Episode 21 recap: The Patrol Office Exposes the Truth of Financial Crimes.
After being reminded by Zhao Cheng Min, Deng Zi Xiao suspects that Deng Zi Qiao will deceive him and take everything away. Therefore, he checks the contract given to him by Deng Zi Qiao. Deng Zi Xiao recalls that the contract was unusually hot when Deng Zi Qiao handed it to him, making him suspicious that something was wrong with the contract. He decides to cool it down with an ice cube.
Deng Zi Xiao places the ice cube in a glass and, after cooling down the contract, discovers hidden clauses on it. If he signs the contract, he won't be able to sell his stocks and will have to sell all his assets to pay off debts. Realizing that Deng Zi Qiao has betrayed him, Deng Zi Xiao angrily tells Zhao Cheng Min about the incident with the contract, involving the use of heat-sensitive invisible ink. Che Su Wei finds a piece of cloth on a tree outside the room and suspects it might be the cloth used by the killer to wrap the gun. Gu Yuan sees the cloth found by Che Su Wei and deduces how Yu Si Yan was killed. He then goes to Yu Si Yan's house to investigate further.
Yu Si Yan's parents believe that Yu Si Yan was introverted, but Che Su Wei thinks highly of Yu Si Yan's character and her dedication to public welfare. This leads him to question the parents' statements. Yu Si Yan's parents explain that Yu Si Yan's personality changed after marrying Deng Zi Xiao and that she was adopted by them from Xiangyang Orphanage.
Gu Yuan investigates the orphanage and discovers that Yu Si Yan had a childhood friend who happens to be journalist Zhao Cheng Min. Learning about Yu Si Yan's relationship with Zhao Cheng Min solidifies Gu Yuan's inference; they just lack evidence.
Deng Zi Xiao returns home and finds the servant packing Yu Si Yan's belongings. Curiosity gets the better of him, and he takes a look, finding a shirt that doesn't fit his own size. Initially, Deng Zi Xiao doesn't pay much attention, but then he recalls Zhao Cheng Min's words about Mu Zong De's wife having an affair with her cousin. This suspicion leads him to question the relationship between Yu Si Yan and Deng Zi Qiao.
Deng Zi Xiao suspects Deng Zi Qiao and compares the shirt to Deng Zi Qiao's clothes, confirming that the shirt indeed belongs to him. Upon learning that the shirt is for Deng Zi Qiao, Deng Zi Xiao questions the maid about Yu Si Yan's affair, and the maid confirms that Yu Si Yan and Deng Zi Qiao are indeed involved, leaving him extremely angry.
Yan Jun Jie found someone selling handguns on the black market and learned that the gun was found by the seller. When it was found, the gun was tied to a deflated balloon. Gu Yuan deduced that Yu Si Yan committed suicide and staged it to make it look like she was murdered, deliberately taking the gun with the balloon when they arrived, making it difficult for the patrol office to find the killer.
With all the evidence, Gu Yuan mobilizes everyone to bring Zhao Cheng Min to the Deng family and interrogate the Deng brothers together. After Zhao Cheng Min does what she planned to do, which is to turn the Deng brothers against each other, she intends to flee. However, Che Su Wei intercepts her as she is packing her belongings.
Che Su Wei brings Zhao Cheng Min to the Deng family, and at the same time, Deng Zi Xiao confronts Deng Zi Qiao. The two brothers argue fiercely. Deng Zi Xiao blames Deng Zi Qiao for being with Yu Si Yan behind his back, while Deng Zi Qiao blames Deng Zi Xiao for mistreating Yu Si Yan. They end up fighting each other.
Deng Zi Qiao wants to kill Deng Zi Xiao to avenge Yu Si Yan, but Deng Zi Xiao is prepared and eventually injures Deng Zi Qiao. Gu Yuan and the others arrive in time to stop the Deng brothers from killing each other and reveal the truth about what Zhao Cheng Min and Yu Si Yan did.
Zhao Cheng Min didn't expect that Yu Si Yan would seek revenge with her own life, and as a result, neither of the Deng brothers died, but Yu Si Yan did. This leaves her feeling unsatisfied. Yu Si Yan's parents were deceived by the Deng brothers and bought a manipulated stock, which led to their financial ruin and ultimately led Yu Si Yan to live in an orphanage.
Yu Si Yan met Zhao Cheng Min at the orphanage and saw the reports of the Deng brothers' success in the newspapers, which fueled her hatred. She decided to seek revenge against the Deng brothers. She found a way to marry Deng Zi Xiao and then pretended to be mistreated by him, hoping to gain Deng Zi Qiao's sympathy and make him hate Deng Zi Xiao.
After successfully trapping the Deng brothers, Yu Si Yan handed her diary over to Zhao Cheng Min and prepared to carry out her final plan: the perfect suicide. Yu Si Yan's suicide was meant to make the Deng brothers kill each other, but they ended up unscathed.
Upon learning that he had been deceived, Deng Zi Xiao angrily wanted to attack Zhao Cheng Min, while Zhao Cheng Min blamed the greed of the Deng brothers for destroying so many families. Zhao Cheng Min reminds Deng Zi Xiao that Yu Si Yan had given him a chance to stop speculating on stocks, but he refused to listen to her, leading to his current situation.
