Episode 4 recap: Xu Gang Ren is constructing a cultural and creative park.
Xu Gang Ren and his family of four arrived at an abandoned factory. Xu Gang Ren expressed his goal of achieving a market value of 500 million in a year. Everyone gave their opinions, and Xu Gang Ren came up with the idea of building a landmark building in Beijing. He proposed constructing a Lion Mountain. He then shared the plan with the general manager, who supported Xu Gang Ren's idea. Soon, the funds were in place, and they were ready to move here and start working.
Initially, Kuang Lili and her group moved to live here. The next step was to address the issue of promotion. Xu Gang Wen said he could give it a try, and soon the Lion Mountain Cultural and Creative Park officially opened for business. Although it had opened, the challenge remained on how to attract visitors.
Kuang Lili suggested attracting investments, and Xu Gang Ren wanted Kuang Lili to accompany him, but she was busy with work. In the end, only Xu Gang Wen could join Xu Gang Ren. Xu Gang Ren found fault with his brother's Mandarin pronunciation, but Xu Bao Yi was able to go along. The next issue to tackle was dealing with drinking. Xu Gang Ren was a lightweight, so he needed to fake it.
Xu Bao Yi, on the other hand, was an expert in this area. He taught his brother to pretend to wipe his mouth with a tissue while spitting the drink into it. Xu Gang Ren thought it was a good method. During meals, Xu Gang Ren was always penalized to drink, and initially, his deception went unnoticed. However, when they started drinking red wine, the other party quickly noticed something was amiss and became very angry. They left, feeling that Xu Gang Ren lacked sincerity.
In the company, Kuang Lili was treated as an assistant and was always assigned miscellaneous tasks, while Xu Gang Ren was busy networking every day. After finishing his work, Xu Gang Ren happened to pass by Kuang Lili's company and saw her carrying a pile of packages, which even fell to the ground. Xu Gang Ren felt sorry for his wife.
When Kuang Lili returned home, she quietly tended to the bruises on her joints. Xu Gang Ren didn't mention the incident of being scolded for lacking sincerity during his networking event. He knew Kuang Lili's hardships, so he embraced her. Although they didn't talk about their hardships, they both presented their best sides to each other. In fact, they both hoped for a better life.
Xu Bao Yi was also heartbroken due to a failed relationship. On the surface, she acted as if nothing happened, but she ended up drinking a lot that night. When Xu Gang Ren and Kuang Lili found out that their sister wanted to drive after drinking, they quickly arranged for a designated driver to take Xu Bao Yi home. After waking up in a daze, Xu Bao Yi misunderstood the driver as a rapist due to her non-standard Mandarin and knocked him out. She later called her brother to find out it was a designated driver they had arranged. Xu Bao Yi quickly apologized and tended to the driver's injuries, luckily the driver didn't mind and left afterward.
Xu Gang Wen happened to be recording a video at a hot pot restaurant and complained that the hot pot wasn't spicy enough. He had a disagreement with a girl at the table opposite him, and they even had a competition to see who could eat more chili peppers. The girl had no problem eating them, while Xu Gang Wen was rendered speechless by the spiciness. The girl advised Xu Gang Wen not to offend spicy hot pot in the future.
Xu Bao Yi went to the bar every day, and Xu Gang Wen was worried about his sister. So, he found a designated driver named Shi Lei to take care of Xu Bao Yi. However, Xu Bao Yi continued drinking and hadn't recovered from the shadow of her failed relationship. Shi Lei comforted her and mentioned that he had a hearing aid, and if he took off his headphones, he wouldn't be able to hear anything.
Coincidentally, Xu Bao Yi saw Lele and her current girlfriend participating in a competition on TV. This made Xu Bao Yi even angrier. When the host asked if anyone wanted to sing, Xu Bao Yi rushed to the stage and sang, while Shi Lei listened attentively. Shi Lei suggested that Xu Bao Yi should also participate in the competition and defeat them.
Encouraged by Shi Lei, Xu Bao Yi decided to participate in the competition. Xu Bao Yi hurriedly joined the competition. Meanwhile, Shi Lei watched the live stream on the internet. Xu Bao Yi sang really well, but unfortunately, she was denied because she had been called up to sing a line during the anniversary celebration, which worked against her.
Xu Bao Yi pleaded with the teacher for another chance, expressing her genuine love for singing. Eventually, the judges were moved and decided to give her another opportunity. Xu Gang Ren encountered Su Fei on the street, who had helped him repair his car when he volunteered in Beijing in 2008. They exchanged contact information, and Xu Gang Ren told a lie, unaware that the brand owner he needed to meet later was actually Su Fei.
Su Fei made it clear that their brand had no intention of entering the cultural and creative park. However, he allowed Xu Gang Ren to try offering free rent to artists as a trial. Su Fei also mentioned that if they offered two months of free rent, many people would come. When they returned, Xu Gang Ren shared Su Fei's suggestions with everyone. Although they didn't know if it could be implemented, they decided to give it a try.
Early in the morning, everyone was awakened by the noise at the entrance, only to find a large group of artists who had come to register after hearing about the two months of free rent.
