Episode 10 recap: The He family relocated back to the capital city, and Jiu Ling was reunited with Rong Yu.
Jiu Ling walked on the street, holding the reins of her horse. As she looked at everything familiar in the capital city, she felt a mix of emotions. She had to leave her home and her beloved Rong Yu. Just then, she faintly heard someone calling her name. Jiu Ling looked around and saw Rong Yu standing on the opposite rooftop, draped in a cloak, shouting loudly, "He Jiu Ling!" Jiu Ling was filled with excitement that he could call her name.
Nan Jiang held a martial arts competition, and Jiu Ling decided to win the top prize in archery to obtain the precious Nine-Segment Qiang Insect Armor, which was used to prepare medicinal herbs for her antidote. It started to rain heavily, and according to He Liang's estimation, they had been in Nan Jiang for four years. Jiu Ling was stopped by someone on the street again. Now the news about Nan Jiang was spreading, saying that the He family had a daughter, and many families sought her hand in marriage.
Chen Zhou said that since Jiu Ling didn't have a preferred suitor, she could do as she pleased. He Liang nodded in agreement, saying that Nan Jiang was stable and peaceful, but they didn't know if the He family had overcome their difficulties. Last month, the previous emperor passed away, and they hadn't rushed back to bid him farewell. A new imperial decree arrived in the capital city, ordering the He family to return and receive rewards for their contributions.
Everyone was happy, and Jiu Ling returned with her prize, living up to everyone's expectations by obtaining first place. Amidst the joy, they also remembered the marriage between Jiu Ling and Rong Yu. In these years, Rong Jiang had shown no interest in the He family and had completely cut off contact. They wondered if Jiu Ling and Rong Yu's relationship would face another deadlock upon their return to the capital. Chen Zhou thought for a moment and suggested that if Rong Jiang pressured them for marriage, they could use the excuse of Nan Jiang needing Jiu Ling's presence to postpone it. Once Rong Jiang found a bride for Rong Yu, the matter would be resolved.
Qiu Ting, however, heard that Rong Yu's recovery wasn't going well. He had only recently started speaking, and it seemed unlikely that any family would be willing to marry their daughter to him. Jiu Ling didn't like hearing everyone discuss this topic and quickly ran out. Jiu Ling had spent the night working on the antidote, but when she woke up in the morning, she discovered that her efforts had failed once again. She had no choice but to write a letter to her martial brother, Prince Xun Nan, seeking his help.
At this time, Xun Nan was facing a rebellion, and his royal brothers had confined him to the residence, forbidding him from taking any action. Therefore, when her martial brother received the letter, he was unable to assist. The entire He family hurriedly made their way to the capital city. Along the way, Jiu Ling impulsively went to hunt rabbits, but her horse, Hong Zao, accidentally fell into a ditch and got injured. Unable to continue their journey, Jiu Ling's sister-in-law, Yang Ying, and her third brother, Qiu Ting, stayed behind with her while the others went ahead to the nearby town to find a doctor for Hong Zao's treatment.
Rong Yu sneaked out and arrived in town on his own, telling everyone that he was looking for He Jiuling. Having just learned to speak, he enthusiastically blurted out monosyllabic words. However, he encountered a group of prostitutes who deceived him into entering a brothel, claiming that Jiuling, whom he was looking for, was inside. Excitedly, Rong Yu followed them, but the women began to touch him inappropriately, which frightened him. Upon realizing that Jiuling was not there, Rong Yu discovered he had been deceived and hurriedly ran outside. The prostitutes, seeing such a splendidly dressed and handsome young man, were not willing to let him escape easily and chased after him. Desperate, Rong Yu ran helter-skelter and ended up on the rooftop.
Meanwhile, Jiuling and her group happened to be walking on the street, preparing to find a doctor to treat the injured horse, Hongzao. From the rooftop, Rong Yu spotted He Jiuling from afar and could hardly believe his eyes. He repeatedly rubbed his eyes to confirm that it was indeed the Jiuling he had yearned for day and night. Then, he loudly shouted Jiuling's name and, disregarding the danger, attempted to run towards her. Jiuling turned around and saw that Rong Yu was about to jump down from the rooftop, so she urgently instructed him to stay where he was and not move. She swiftly ascended the rooftop and embraced him. After four years, the two reunited, their excitement and emotions overflowing, as they tearfully embraced each other.
Qiu Ting came over and pulled Rong Yu away, preventing him from hugging Jiuling. Jiuling cried and scolded Rong Yu, forbidding him from jumping down from the rooftop like that because it was too dangerous. Rong Yu nodded repeatedly, promising to comply. During the meal, Rong Yu and He Jiuling fed each other, displaying their affection. Qiu Ting and Sister-in-law Yang Ying couldn't bear to watch, but Sister-in-law Yang Ying noticed that Rong Yu only had eyes for Jiuling and thought they were a perfect match. Jiuling went to find He Shan and Zhang Ping, assuming that Rong Yu had snuck out, and they must have been extremely worried. Qiu Ting and Sister-in-law Yang Ying told Rong Yu about Jiuling's near-death experience in Nanjiang, and Rong Yu couldn't help but burst into tears. No matter how Qiu Ting tried to console him, it was in vain. Unable to control his emotions, Qiu Ting pushed Rong Yu, and just at that moment, Jiuling returned and witnessed the scene. She drove Qiu Ting away, but Rong Yu no longer wanted to leave Jiuling. He clung to her even when sleeping.
