Episode 8 recap: Rong Yu was taken back to the Astrology Hall by Rong Jiang. Jiuling tried to find a way to find an antidote for Rong Yu.
Jiuling and Rong Yu settled down at Da Niang's house. Da Niang brought them steamed sweet potatoes and a bowl of porridge. Da Niang introduced her mute husband to them, who was even worse off than Rong Yu in terms of communication skills. Kind-hearted Da Niang assumed that they had eloped, and Rong Yu, who had just learned how to use a spoon, fed Jiuling the soup. Da Niang admired their affection and commented that Rong Yu looked like a young master who had set aside his status to serve Jiuling. She couldn't understand why Jiuling's parents objected to their relationship.
Watching Rong Yu feed Jiuling spoonful by spoonful, Da Niang was deeply moved by their actions. She had never seen such a loving young couple before. Consequently, Da Niang enthusiastically offered a suggestion, proposing that they stay at her house until the child was born and see how Jiuling's father would try to stop them then.
Upon hearing this, Jiuling sprayed her food far away. She was delighted to discover that Rong Yu could understand her words. Da Niang invited Jiuling and Rong Yu to have a meal and brought them steamed sweet potatoes and porridge. She introduced her mute husband to them, who was even worse off than Rong Yu in terms of communication skills.

Consequently, she enthusiastically offered a suggestion, proposing that they stay at her house until the child was born and see how Jiuling's father would try to stop them then.
Upon hearing this, Jiuling sprayed her food far away. She hurriedly told Da Niang that they would leave immediately to seek refuge with Jiuling's relatives. Jiuling left a thank-you gift for Da Niang and asked her to buy some clean clothes for them. They bid farewell to Da Niang, and coincidentally, they encountered the street artist who sold paintings of Rong Yu for money. The artist became ecstatic upon seeing Rong Yu, as if he had met his long-lost kin, and started dancing with excitement.
Jiuling wanted to go to the inn to inquire about the situation, but Rong Yu stuck to her every step of the way. In order to get rid of Rong Yu, she gave him a piece of cake to appease him. Jiuling arrived at the inn alone, only to find that Rong Jiang had already sent someone to wait for her there. Upon seeing Jiuling, Rong Jiang slapped her and harshly said that he would never let Jiuling harm Rong Yu again.
Rong Jiang's men searched the streets and finally found Rong Yu. Without saying a word, they forcefully put Rong Yu into a carriage and brought him back to the Rong residence. Meanwhile, Jiuling was sent back to the He residence by Rong Jiang's men. He Liang thanked them and expressed his intention to visit Rong Jiang to show his gratitude another day. However, the men conveyed Rong Jiang's instructions that no one from the He residence should ever set foot in the Rong residence again.
He San wanted to argue with them, but He Liang stopped him. Back at the Rong residence, Rong Yu was restless and agitated, constantly demanding to find Jiuling. Rong Jiang felt frustrated upon seeing this. He didn't understand why Rong Yu couldn't remember anything except for Jiuling. The imperial physician said it wasn't surprising because when the young master woke up, Jiuling was the only one by his side.
Rong Jiang summoned He Shan and Zhan Ping and ordered them to continue serving as Rong Yu's personal guards, but they had to pay the price for what they had done before. He Shan gritted his teeth and said that he would bear the punishment alone. During the meal, no matter how Rong Jiang persuaded him, Rong Yu refused to eat or drink. He just stared at the cake intently as if he was very interested in it. Seeing this, Rong Jiang ordered his men to search all the bakeries in town and buy the cakes for Rong Yu.
Jiuling wrote a letter to her master, pleading for her help in treating Rong Yu. However, her master said that she had grievances with the Astrology Hall and had nothing to do with their affairs, whether Rong Yu lived or died. Helpless, Jiuling had to write a letter to her senior brother. When her senior brother heard that she needed the antidote, he hurriedly sent the medicinal materials.
Jiuling went outside the Astrology Hall to wait for Rong Yu. She saw several young aristocrats walking and making fun of Rong Yu, arrogantly saying that he was as dumb as a dog now. Unable to contain her anger, Jiuling threw a teacup at one of them, hitting him, and then grabbed him and punished him severely. When Rong Jiang returned home and saw this, he didn't stop her. He knew that those people were just taking the opportunity to mock Rong Yu and they didn't deserve any sympathy.
He Shan accepted his punishment, bearing the mark of a criminal on his face. He went out to buy the cakes for Rong Yu and when he saw Jiuling, he told her that Rong Yu was not doing well and asked her to go and see him. However, upon seeing the mark on He Shan's face, Jiuling felt sorry and said that she wouldn't go anymore, she couldn't bring trouble to anyone else. He Shan said he would find a way, and Jiuling realized why Rong Yu had stopped eating.
He Shan bought the specific type of cake that Jiuling had requested, and indeed, Rong Yu ate it happily. He Shan took Rong Yu to the window, pushed it open, and to Rong Yu's excitement, he saw Jiuling in the courtyard across from them. Rong Yu waved his hand enthusiastically, trying to greet Jiuling, and he murmured something incoherent. Jiuling was also overjoyed to see Rong Yu, and she performed swordplay for him, demonstrating how to guide him to eat. Rong Yu obediently cooperated, allowing He Shan to feed him porridge.
