Episode 21 recap: Jiang Tian and Zhou Ye Wen embraced each other.
Zhou Ye Wen went to find Jiang Tian, but it was Zhang Xiao Qiu who opened the door. He was puzzled why Zhang Xiao Qiu was there again. Zhou Ye Wen, Zhang Xiao Qiu, and Jiang Tian went out to eat together. Zhou Ye Wen asked Zhang Xiao Qiu how his master had been lately, and Zhang Xiao Qiu told him that his master was doing well. Zhou Ye Wen started to say "you," but Zhang Xiao Qiu quickly interjected and said that he was also doing well.
Jiang Tian felt that the room at the Li family's house was too small. She discussed with Li Jia An whether they should use a 1.5-meter bed. Li Jia An thought that a 1.5-meter bed would be too small and uncomfortable for him and his wife to sleep on. So Jiang Tian decided to customize a special-sized bed for them. She believed that their home was too small, and if they wanted to live comfortably, they had to go with a special size.
However, this would require an additional cost. Li Jia He wondered if this sudden increase in price was a scheme between Jiang Tian and the furniture factory. Li Jia An didn't like the way he said that, and they had a little argument. Jiang Tian realized that this could raise suspicions from the homeowners, so she agreed to involve Li Jia He and the furniture factory in the negotiation process.
Zhou Ye Wen came to Jiang Tian's place to bring her longan fruit. He knocked on the door and found that Zhang Xiao Qiu opened it. Jiang Tian informed him that Wu Jing Fang wasn't at home. Zhou Ye Wen asked where Zhang Xiao Qiu and Wu Jing Fang were. He stood at the door, watching the two of them work. Suddenly, Wu Jing Fang appeared from behind, startling Zhou Ye Wen, causing the longan fruit to get stuck in his throat. Wu Jing Fang quickly called Jiang Tian out. Jiang Tian knew that even calling emergency services wouldn't be fast enough, so she hugged Zhou Ye Wen from behind and patted his back three times. Finally, the longan fruit came out, but Zhou Ye Wen was too embarrassed to say anything, so he quickly left.
Wu Jing Fang watched Zhang Xiao Qiu and Jiang Tian passionately discussing things and felt like she couldn't join the conversation. She felt disappointed and went back to her room to sleep alone. Early the next morning, Jiang Tian made an appointment with Zhang Xiao Qiu to go to the furniture factory together.
With nothing to do, Wu Jing Fang went to Ding Su E's breakfast shop to have breakfast. Ding Su E asked her why she seemed restless and if something had happened. Wu Jing Fang said that she had just seen Jiang Tian rushing off urgently and asked why Wu Jing Fang hadn't followed. Wu Jing Fang replied that they had been very busy lately and had split into two groups. She felt that it was fine before Zhang Xiao Qiu came, but now that he was there, she felt like she couldn't join their conversation.
Ding Su E felt that in a few years, once their studio was on the right track, Wu Jing Fang, the assistant, would retire because she wasn't a professional designer after all. When Wu Jing Fang heard this, she became unhappy. She told Ding Su E that she had other things to do and left. Wu Jing Fang went to the furniture factory to help them sell furniture, with the condition that they could replace Zhu Zhu's sofa. The store manager had high hopes for Wu Jing Fang, as she managed to sell a set of sofas and a set of coffee tables in just half a day.
Jiang Tian, accompanied by Zhang Xiao Qiu and Li Jia He, went to meet the person in charge of the furniture factory. The person in charge looked at their design drawings and had already prepared two sets of estimates. He asked them to take a look at these estimates and told Jiang Tian that her design drawings could only result in that kind of product. Most other items could be produced by their factory, but if there were any rework needed for the sofa or bed, the cost would have to be borne by the homeowners. Jiang Tian asked why the homeowners should bear the cost if it was the factory's fault. Jiang Tian told him that she could go back and provide a more detailed design, specifying each type of material. However, the person in charge of the furniture factory claimed that she didn't understand and informed Li Jia He that their furniture factory also had designers who were knowledgeable in interior decoration. He assured them that if they let their designers handle the project, they would surely produce high-quality and cost-effective products.
Li Jia He realized that the furniture factory had no intention of cooperating with them. He rejected the offer and asked Jiang Tian and Zhang Xiao Qiu to leave. Li Jia He volunteered to drive Jiang Tian and, as they sat in the same car, he confessed that he had made mistakes in the past. He found it difficult to trust others, even his wife Xiao Mei, whom he had known for eight years before getting married. He acknowledged that Jiang Tian wasn't a furniture expert, so she didn't need to take the words of the furniture factory to heart. Although he had trust issues, he would try to trust Jiang Tian, and she assured him that she would find a way to help them find the perfect furniture. Meanwhile, during Wu Jing Fang's assistance at the furniture mall, she met a person named Jia Qian who was skilled in furniture making.
Zhou Ye Wen, drunk, arrived at Jiang Tian's doorstep. Jiang Tian happened to come out to throw away the garbage and saw him. Jiang Tian escorted him to his doorstep, ready to leave, but Zhou Ye Wen embraced her and confessed that he regretted their breakup.
It's frustrating to watch. The plot where the characters are wrongly accused or face destruction is never resolved, and it's infuriating. Moreover, from start to finish, there's no significant development. The female lead faces continuous obstacles, and while the drama is titled "My Assistant Isn't Simple," she doesn't really do anything remarkably impressive.
Watching it till the end feels rather lonely.
