Episode 5 recap: Jiang Tian's boyfriend celebrated her birthday.
Zhou Ye Wen fixed Jiang Tian's computer, and as a thank you, Jiang Tian invited him to a meal. The two of them had a lot of conversation at the dinner table. Zhou Ye Wen said that even if they didn't have that kind of relationship, they were at least friends. Zhou Ye Wen asked if Jiang Tian was treating her aunt poorly because of this. Jiang Tian told him that she treated her aunt the best at work.
Zhou Ye Wen asked Jiang Tian if she could listen to other people's opinions more. Jiang Tian asked him why he thought she didn't listen to other people's opinions. Zhou Ye Wen said that if she listened to other people's opinions, she wouldn't have gone to Beijing alone. Just as they were stunned by this statement, Jiang Tian's phone rang; it was Qian Lao Ban calling her to hurry with the designs.
Jiang Tian quickly left, leaving Zhou Ye Wen alone at the dinner table. He recalled their relationship during high school. Jiang Tian made the decision to go to a university in Beijing without discussing it with anyone, while Zhou Ye Wen stayed in Suzhou. They started a long-distance relationship, and their arguments became more frequent, eventually leading to a breakup.
Wu Jing Fang saw Jiang Tian return and asked her what delicious food Zhou Ye Wen treated her to. Jiang Tian said that they went for barbecue. Wu Jing Fang asked why she didn't bring her along and when did they become so close. Jiang Tian told her that they were classmates in high school, which made Wu Jing Fang pensive.
Lin Xiao Xiao called Jiang Tian and told her that she would be on a business trip on Saturday. Jiang Tian thought it was fine since it was just a business trip. Lin Xiao Xiao informed her that Saturday was her birthday and she couldn't accompany her. Jiang Tian didn't mind since she didn't really celebrate her birthday anyway. Lin Xiao Xiao asked if her boyfriend would prepare something for her, and Jiang Tian said he would.
She recalled at least one scene where Fang Yuan Qing celebrated her birthday. Jiang Tian had neglected Fang Yuan Qing because she was busy with work. Fang Yuan Qing called her and told Jiang Tian not to disappoint him this time for her birthday.
Early in the morning, Jiang Tian took the design drafts and went to see Qian Lao Ban. Qian Lao Ban asked her to convert the entire second floor into a terrace. Jiang Tian gave her own insights on the issue, and after she finished speaking, Qian Lao Ban agreed with Jiang Tian's opinion.
Wu Jing Fang asked Jiang Tian why she didn't wake her up this morning. Jiang Tian believed that even though they lived together, there was no wake-up service. Just as they were talking, Qian Lao Ban called again. Jiang Tian told Wu Jing Fang that she could see how busy she had been lately.
Wu Jing Fang knew that Jiang Tian didn't bring her along because she couldn't keep up, and she knew she wasn't capable enough. However, she would prove herself to Jiang Tian and show that she could do it. In the days that followed, Jiang Tian was busy with design drafts, while Wu Jing Fang was busy studying design knowledge. They both lived fulfilling lives every day.
When they woke up in the morning, Wu Jing Fang had already prepared breakfast. Jiang Tian saw that it was noodles, and since it was her birthday, she thought Wu Jing Fang had made longevity noodles for her. Unexpectedly, Wu Jing Fang said it was because the noodles were on sale today, so she bought them. Jiang Tian felt a bit disappointed.
Jiang Tian's father called her and asked if she had eaten noodles in the morning. Jiang Tian told him that if he came back today, he shouldn't come home, and they would go out to eat together. However, Uncle Jiang said he had a wedding banquet to prepare for and couldn't come back. Jiang Tian instantly felt a little disappointed. She wondered what gift Fang Yuan Qing would prepare for her and looked at her phone, but there were no messages. It wasn't a problem with the phone either.
Jiang Tian's phone rang again, and she thought it was Fang Yuan Qing, so she quickly answered it, but it turned out to be Qian Lao Ban asking for the design drafts. Jiang Tian told him that it wasn't possible today, and Qian Lao Ban asked her to go and talk to his friends in person.
Just as Jiang Tian was about to leave, she ran into Wu Jing Fang. She asked Wu Jing Fang if she wanted to go with her. The two of them arrived at the location Qian Lao Ban mentioned and faced Qian Lao Ban's friends, who were all expressing their opinions.
Jiang Tian told them that they all had great ideas, but today she was the designer, and she was loyal to her own ideas and designs. Jiang Tian's phone rang again, and it was Fang Yuan Qing calling. Jiang Tian didn't answer but saw Fang Yuan Qing at the doorstep. He had specifically come to celebrate her birthday.
