Episode 18 recap: Yan Qing Qing was under Xu Ke Ji's control.
Lu Jiang, along with Lu Qi and Wu Yi Dong, went to investigate the situation. They discovered that Xu Jia Yin's phone was turned on. Lu Qi was worried that Wu Yi Dong would become infatuated and quickly reminded him not to contact Xu Jia Yin until the mission was over.Xu Jia Yin went to Peng Yi to find Xu Ke Ji and asked about Xu Mai's whereabouts. However, Xu Ke Ji claimed to have made arrangements for Xu Mai and told Xu Jia Yin not to interfere, urging her to leave. Xu Jia Yin had no choice but to seek information from Jia Lin. She accidentally heard that someone from the Narcotics Brigade had come looking for Xu Mai, but Jia Lin used the excuse of Xu Mai being on a business trip to deflect them.
Xu Jia Yin knew it was Dai Zhi Yong who had come, so she proactively called him and informed him that Xu Mai was injured and she had no idea where he was recovering. Dai Zhi Yong believed that Xu Jia Yin wasn't sincerely cooperating with his work and didn't believe that she didn't know Xu Mai's whereabouts. This left Xu Jia Yin feeling frustrated.
Dai Zhi Yong then went to find Yan Qing Qing. It was only then that Yan Qing Qing learned that Xu Mai, whom she thought was on a business trip, had actually encountered an accident. She immediately confronted Xu Ke Ji angrily, demanding that he hand over Xu Mai. Xu Ke Ji had no intention of paying attention to Yan Qing Qing, which made her even more furious. She boldly speculated that Xu Ke Ji had deliberately set a trap by involving Xu Mai in the acquisition of Yuanke, in order to kick them, mother and son, out of the company.
Yan Qing Qing held evidence of Xu Ke Ji's illegal operations, which Xue Ning had provided earlier in order to save her own life. She intended to use it to threaten Xu Ke Ji into handing over Xu Mai. However, Xu Ke Ji had already made preparations and claimed that Xue Ning's words were all lies. He threatened to counter-sue Yan Qing Qing if she dared to report him, and even stated that Xu Mai would no longer have Yan Qing Qing as his mother.
Feeling deeply disturbed, Yan Qing Qing saw a small knife on the table and instinctively thrust it towards Xu Ke Ji. Xu Ke Ji only suffered a minor injury, but he was concerned that the incident would create a negative image. He had Dr. Wang treat his wound and administered a sedative to Yan Qing Qing, causing her to fall asleep before being taken to the hospital.
Xu Jia Yin found Yan Qing Qing's residence, but no matter how she called out, nobody answered the door, leaving her puzzled. Xu Ke Ji planned to establish a company specifically to handle Yuanke's debt issues. He wanted Jia Lin to be the overall manager, with Xu Mai serving as Jia Lin's assistant. He also requested Jia Lin to keep an eye on the people who came from Pan Shi Group.
After much contemplation, Lu Shan finally went to the university across the street to meet Gong Qi. Gong Qi arrived for the appointment, but Lu Shan couldn't communicate properly. Every word she said was aimed at hurting Gong Qi, demanding that he turn himself in. Gong Qi denied being guilty and reminded Lu Shan that her mother's death at the hospital was also recorded. He asked Lu Shan to think clearly and not make baseless speculations.
Lu Shan couldn't find a way to break through with Gong Qi and left. However, he didn't give up and instead called Gong Qi's office, saying that he was going to tell Jiang Yue everything. Gong Qi was terrified upon receiving the news because Jiang Yue had asthma and couldn't handle any shocks, as it could be life-threatening for her.
Gong Qi immediately rushed to find Lu Shan, but he couldn't locate him and ended up getting hit by a car. Gong Qi was taken to the hospital, and he worried that Lu Shan's impulsive actions might put Jiang Yue in danger. In a state of distress, he called Xu Jia Yin for help and asked her to inform Lu Jiang.
Coincidentally, Xu Jia Yin was near Jiang Yue's school, so she called Lu Jiang while rushing to the school. Lu Shan was asking for directions and searching for Jiang Yue in the school. Just as he spotted Jiang Yue and was about to approach her, Xu Jia Yin arrived.
Xu Jia Yin tried to persuade Lu Shan to stay calm, but he couldn't calm down. He pushed Xu Jia Yin aside, causing her to get injured. She quickly revealed that Jiang Yue had asthma, and only then did Lu Shan hesitate and stop in his tracks.
At that moment, Lu Jiang arrived. Seeing Xu Jia Yin injured and displeased with Lu Shan, he sternly told Lu Shan to leave if he still wanted to consider him as a brother. Lu Shan realized he had let Xu Jia Yin down and didn't want to endanger Jiang Yue's life, so he ultimately chose to leave.
Lu Jiang accompanied Xu Jia Yin back home. Xu Jia Yin found it strange that Lu Jiang knew where she lived and suspected that he was investigating her. Lu Jiang saw that Xu Jia Yin was clearly injured but still stubbornly refused his offer to help her upstairs. Instead, he simply lifted her up and placed her on the sofa.
Lu Shan, who was following behind, witnessed Lu Jiang's actions and started to believe that Lu Jiang didn't like Su Pan. He didn't know what to do for a moment. Lu Jiang expressed his gratitude to Xu Jia Yin for her assistance and wanted to do something for her. Xu Jia Yin understood that Lu Jiang was busy and told him to focus on his own matters.
Lu Jiang promised to visit Xu Jia Yin when he had time and revealed to her that his engagement with Su Pan was fake. This made Xu Jia Yin secretly happy.
