Episode 8 recap: Dai Zhi Yong is being suspected.
A special meeting is being held in the city to discuss the Flying Eagle case. Lu Jiang proposes a hypothesis during the meeting, suggesting that Hou Kuai Le once mentioned that Hou Ping An hurriedly left home after receiving a phone call, which leads Lu Jiang to speculate that Hou Ping An has another phone number. Dai Zhi Yong stands up with suppressed anger to refute Lu Jiang's speculation, believing that Hou Ping An, who is likely to have sacrificed, should not be burdened with such a stain. However, Xiao Zhi signals Dai Zhi Yong to calm down and urges Lu Jiang to continue the analysis, emphasizing that the most important aspect of analyzing the case is to avoid emotional bias.
Lu Jiang presents a drug distribution map, which clearly shows that Linjiang had the least amount of drugs in the past and correspondingly the weakest anti-drug force. Flying Eagle must have targeted this point, releasing rumors in advance and meticulously planning each step to eventually complete this major drug trafficking case. Ma San is only a minor character, and Flying Eagle originally shouldn't have paid attention to him. However, Ma San has posed a threat to his safety, so Flying Eagle orchestrated a series of actions, including Ma San's death and Hou Ping An's disappearance.
After thinking for a long time, Dai Zhi Yong still insists that Hou Ping An did not hide anything from him. Xue Ning and her child return home safely. However, Xu Ke Ji believes that this matter bears the shadow of Pan Yue Yang. He instructs someone to snatch two deals from Pan Yue Yang at a low price.
After receiving a report from his subordinate, Pan Yue Yang instructs the subordinate not to inform Su Pan about the matter. He hopes that Su Pan and Lu Jiang's engagement ceremony can proceed as planned. Lu Gao Yuan goes to the police station to find Lu Jiang and tries to persuade him to behave obediently. Lu Shan realizes that he has been a burden all along, but he cannot accept his own worthlessness. He immediately leaves after throwing down his chopsticks, sitting alone at the bus stop lost in thought.
At this moment, an elderly lady arrives at the bus stop carrying many things. Lu Shan kindly offers to help, and the two quickly engage in conversation. The elderly lady praises Lu Shan as a good young man, which sparks a desire in Lu Shan to confide in her. He talks about his longing for his mother and his self-contempt for being useless. Lu Jiang is behind the bus stop, listening to these words and feeling deeply distressed. After the elderly lady leaves, Lu Shan can no longer hold back his tears and cries alone. Lu Jiang, feeling particularly uneasy, sits next to Lu Shan and lets him know that there are still loved ones who care about him.
Xu Jia Yin successfully passes through multiple selections and is accepted as an auxiliary police officer, coincidentally being assigned to the Anti-Drug Brigade. Lu Jiang sees a familiar figure at the elevator entrance and directly calls out to Xu Jia Yin. Once he realizes that it is indeed Xu Jia Yin, the two engage in a heated argument. In the end, Xu Jia Yin invites Lu Jiang to have a meal because of her good mood. On the way, someone on a bicycle nearly collides with Xu Jia Yin, and Lu Jiang instinctively protects her. Su Pan happens to witness this and immediately lowers her face and quietly leaves. She recalls how she had happily gone to see her dress and can't help but laugh at herself.
