Episode 17 recap: The villagers wanted to sacrifice Jiang Li to the water monster.
With the experience from the first encounter, when Jiang Li heard the water monster crying for help, she came to the edge of the pond with a long stick. However, she was once again dragged into the pond by the water monster. Jiang Li had used up all three of her lives in the game and still couldn't enter Shen Family Village. She sat dejectedly at the village entrance, thinking about the days when Shen Xiuning helped her. Suddenly, Shen Xiuning appeared, holding an umbrella. Jiang Li greeted him excitedly, but Shen Xiuning seemed not to recognize her. He watched as the villagers captured her and prepared to sacrifice her to the water monster without intervening.

Jiang Li greeted him excitedly, but when she rubbed her eyes and looked again, she realized it was just her illusion. Just as she felt disappointed, a large net descended from the sky and suddenly enveloped her.
Jiang Li was bound by people, and these people were villagers from Shen Family Village. The reason they captured her was that several people had died consecutively in the village recently. There were rumors that Shen Xiuning, the jinx, had offended the water monster. In order to appease the water monster's anger, they decided to find an unmarried girl as a sacrifice to the water monster.
After Jiang Li was captured, she prayed for Shen Xiuning to come and save her. However, due to a bug in Shen Xiuning's emotions, he disappeared from her world. When the bug was fixed and Shen Xiuning returned, he discovered that Jiang Li had gone to Shen Family Village, so he came with Li Canglang to find her. The two of them arrived at Shen Family Village and learned about the plan to sacrifice Jiang Li from Shen Xiuning's ex-girlfriend, Rui Xue.
