Episode 19 recap: Jiang Li and Rui Xue were jealous of each other.
Shen Xiuning, feeling dissatisfied, asked Rui Xue why she was casually touching his things. Holding a candle, Rui Xue asked him in confusion if the candle was really that important to him, leaving Shen Xiuning perplexed. Jiang Li wanted to help Shen Xiuning bathe and even offered to give him a back massage, which made Rui Xue very uncomfortable. Rui Xue made a new pair of shoes for Shen Xiuning, and when she presented them to him, Jiang Li's face turned gloomy. She drew Li Canglang's waist knife and pointed it at Rui Xue.
Seeing Shen Xiuning approaching, Jiang Li happily approached him, but Shen Xiuning turned his face away coldly. Unable to bear seeing Shen Xiuning's behavior, Li Canglang couldn't help but question why he suddenly ignored Jiang Li. Shen Xiuning didn't answer Li Canglang's question but instead asked him strangely if he and Jiang Li were close before.
Seeing Shen Xiuning's expression, Jiang Li felt like he had truly forgotten her and wanted to understand the reason behind it. Li Canglang took her to the grave of the Shen family and told her the story of Shen Xiuning. Shortly after Shen Xiuning was born, his older brother died, and later his parents died while trying to save him. Afterward, some things happened in Shen Family Village, and the villagers believed that Shen Xiuning was an ill-fated star, so they drove him out of the village.
After listening to Li Canglang's account, Jiang Li finally realized that Shen Family Village was Shen Xiuning's inner demon. Rui Xue made a new pair of shoes for Shen Xiuning, and when she presented them to him, Jiang Li's face turned gloomy. She drew Li Canglang's waist knife and started randomly hacking at a pile of firewood to vent her frustration. While Rui Xue was sewing, she lit a candle from Shen Xiuning's bag because the candle was a gift from Jiang Li. Through that candle, Shen Xiuning vaguely remembered Jiang Li, but when she asked him about it, he became confused again.
Shen Xiuning was taking a bath, and both Jiang Li and Rui Xue were competing to attend to him. Seeing the two of them being jealous of each other, Shen Xiuning drove them both out.
