Episode 8 recap: Fang Runsheng wants to marry Jiang Li.

Li Canglang came to find Shen Xiuning with the intention of informing him that Mr. Wu, who can untie the red string, has returned. However, Shen Xiuning showed little interest in the news, and Li Canglang could tell that he didn't want to untie the red string. Shen Xiuning, despite his true feelings, couldn't admit it. At night, while Shen Xiuning was worried that the string on Jiang Li's wrist might come off, he took the opportunity to retie the string while she was asleep and even tied a tight knot.

He thought he had done it seamlessly, but unexpectedly, Xiaopangya suddenly appeared and told Jiang Li about it, congratulating her on completing the cooperative side quest. Jiang Li had the same idea as Shen Xiuning; she didn't want to be separated from him, so she kept the matter hidden. Fang Runsheng came to find Jiang Li and delivered surprising news: he planned to propose to her at the Jiang residence the next day. Upon hearing that Fang Runsheng wanted to marry Jiang Li, Shen Xiuning became furious and angrily pulled Jiang Li away, accidentally breaking the red string due to his forceful action.

To facilitate their marriage, Lord Fang invited Jiang Li to a feast at his home. Jiang Li saw this as an opportunity to find out more about the situation and readily agreed. Shen Xiuning, concerned about Jiang Li, accompanied her along with Li Canglang. During the meal, Fang Runsheng signaled to Jiang Li not to drink the mushroom soup, but she pretended not to notice. Lord Fang was very hospitable towards the three of them and, as night fell, he insisted they stay overnight, which played right into Jiang Li and the others' hands.

Just as Jiang Li was about to rest, Fang Runsheng suddenly rushed over, looking very nervous, and told her that it was very dangerous there and that he was about to leave. He grabbed her and hurriedly left.
