Episode 17 recap: Hua Shen was fatally stabbed while trying to save Hua Qian.
After hearing Jin Lin's words, Miss Qi was deeply saddened and angrily threw her purse on the ground before storming off. In reality, Jin Lin was only following Miss Qi's father's orders, and he had no intention of marrying her. It was just a ploy by Miss Qi's father to sever their relationship. In exchange, if they could break the bond between them, Miss Qi's father would hand over all of Jin Lin's family's contracts of indenture. Jin Lin had no choice but to accept this arrangement. Hua Qian quickly explained that Hua Rong Zhou was her personal guard. Later, Hua Qian took Hua Rong Zhou aside and reprimanded him for his actions, considering Zhong Xi Wu's status as the head of the family.
As Zhong Xi Wu watched them leave, he had a sense of familiarity with Hua Rong Zhou. Just as Hua Qian and Zhong Xi Wu returned, a dancing maid suddenly brandished a dagger and lunged at Zhong Xi Wu, proclaiming her intention to avenge the Ge family.
Chaos erupted in the entire hall, and everyone scrambled to escape. Zhong Ye Lan protected Mu Yao, while Hua Qian followed closely behind her father. At this moment, a group of Hei Yi Ren (Men in Black) had already surrounded Hua Qian, and Hua Rong Zhou hurried to her aid.
As a Hei Yi Ren (Men in Black) aimed their sword at Hua Qian, to her surprise, Hua Shen stood in front of her, taking a fatal stab to the chest. In the chaos, Hua Qian was knocked unconscious and taken away. It was then that Hua Qian realized she was the target of these people.
Initially, Zhong Xi Wu thought someone had been injured, but when he learned that Hua Qian was among the kidnapped, he disregarded his own safety and even sent his subordinate, who had never appeared before, to find Hua Qian. Zhong Ye Lan received a letter instructing him to go to the edge of a cliff alone, where Mu Yao and Hua Qian were located.
When Hua Qian woke up, she found herself and Mu Yao trapped on opposite ends of a tree. Mu Yao was still unconscious, and the Hei Yi Ren (Men in Black) stated that they didn't intend to kill Hua Qian and Mu Yao. Soon, Zhong Ye Lan arrived, but Mu Yao remained calm.
In reality, Mu Yao had already recognized that one of the Hei Yi Ren (Men in Black) was Wu Shuo Mo. Wu Shuo Mo even forced Zhong Ye Lan to choose who should stay. Zhong Ye Lan began to hesitate, and when Hua Qian saw Mu Yao's gaze, she understood everything. Using a bracelet given to her by Hua Rong Zhou, Hua Qian managed to free herself from the ropes and told Mu Yao that it was all her own debt. She then leaped off the cliff, luckily landing on a tree with some cushioning before falling into the water below.
Hua Qian quickly swam to the shore, grateful that she had learned survival skills during her exile, which had ultimately saved her life. Now, her priority was self-preservation because staying in one place would likely result in being attacked by wild beasts. However, Hua Qian had injured her foot and could only move forward slowly, step by step.
Her only means of survival was the bracelet Hua Rong Zhou had given her. Hua Qian vividly recalled the scene when she was pursued by pursuers, and as footsteps approached, she initially thought it was an enemy, but to her surprise, it was Hua Rong Zhou. Hua Rong Zhou carried Hua Qian on his back and continued forward.
Hua Qian immediately asked about her brother's condition, and Hua Rong Zhou mentioned that after seeing her being taken away, he had no interest in the events at the banquet.
