Episode 15 recap: Chen Shan He was injured and fled to Foshan.
Chen Shan He was taken away by Liao Liu Si, who questioned him about how much money he had. Chen Shan He did mention that he had quite a sum of money, but he didn't reveal where it was hidden. However, Liao Liu Si insisted and pressured him. Eventually, Chen Shan He gave him some gold bars and said that he would give him more every year, on the condition that he ensured Chen Shan He's safety.
However, Kuang Qing Kui discovered Liao Liu Si's trickery, and he ordered a full-scale pursuit of Liao Liu Si, with orders to kill him on sight. When He Yu Fang returned home, she discovered that Chen Shan He hadn't come back. Chen Shan He left a letter next to her embroidery bag, stating that if she saw the letter, it meant that something might have happened to him. He had many enemies, and to protect He Yu Fang and her siblings from being implicated, he had to desperately earn money by any means necessary. Chen Shan He also expressed his love for He Yu Fang in the letter.
After Liao Liu Si returned, he was interrogated by Kuang Qing Kui. He had already prepared a set of explanations, hoping to deceive Kuang Qing Kui. However, at that moment, Japanese bombs started exploding throughout the city. Kuang Qing Kui insisted on killing Chen Shan He and even accused him of being a Japanese spy.
The next day, Chen Wei Qing and Chen Li Xia saw the news report in the newspaper. Naturally, they couldn't believe that all of this was true. Chen Li Xia wanted to find her older brother to clarify the situation but was stopped by Jin Hui Rong, who was more cautious. Chen Wei Qing wanted to find Chen Shan He through Jin Hui Rong. Chen Wei Qing and Chen Li Xia arrived in Foshan at the fruit shop that used to belong to their parents. Chen Wei Qing mentioned that he returned to their former home, but it now had a new owner. However, Chen Wei Qing still had revenge on his mind.
Kuang Qing Kui also received orders from above to cooperate with the Communist Party. Kuang Qing Kui was very resentful because they had been fighting against the Communist Party for so long, and now they were being asked to cooperate. It felt like they were just being let go. During a meeting, Kuang Qing Kui scolded Liao Liu Si and demanded that everyone capture the Communist Party members at all costs.
