Episode 6 recap: Assistant was being chased by Russell.
Everyone was watching the final showdown of the Gun King competition. Russell sent Assistant as his representative, which surprised everyone. Zhuying Tai, on the other hand, sent out a clown. After the countdown, the match officially began. This time, they chose a desert as the arena, and the environment was well-crafted to make it feel like they were truly in the desert. The two engaged in a gunfight, but unexpectedly, Assistant shot the clown in the abdomen, causing him to fall to the ground. It was a complete victory for the Russell family in this match.
According to the previous agreement, Zhuying Qiao had to hand over his territory to Russell. Although he was unwilling, he had to accept the loss. Soon after, when Assistant returned, everyone started calling him the Gun God. Romeo came over to congratulate Assistant and mentioned that Russell invited him to dinner at his house that evening to collect the prize. Assistant was naturally delighted.
The godmother summoned Zhuying Qiao and scolded him, as this was already the second time he had lost to the Russell family. Their position in the future might not be secure anymore. The godmother also urged Zhuying Qiao to quickly finalize the marriage between Zhuliye and the Dai family, which could help resolve the crisis for the Zhuying family. After returning home, Zhuliye comforted her sister and asked if getting married could really help the family. Zhuying Qiao admitted that it could, and to her surprise, Zhuliye agreed to the marriage with the Dai family, but on the condition that she wanted to meet Romeo. Zhuying Qiao assured her sister that she would arrange everything.
Zhuying Qiao learned that the clown's body was missing from the morgue, suggesting that he might not be dead. Russell invited Assistant to dinner, and they found Russell's late wife's ashes on the table. It turned out that Russell recognized the markings on Assistant's gun, as he was the person who had shot him and his wife back then. Romeo's older brothers severely beat Assistant, but Romeo quickly intervened and pleaded for Assistant, believing that there must be a misunderstanding.
Later, Romeo went to ask his stepmother and learned that she and Assistant were both members of an assassin group, and so was her ex-husband. The death of Romeo's mother had nothing to do with Assistant. His stepmother also revealed that if Romeo wanted to save Assistant, he would need her help. Taking advantage of the opportunity while delivering food to Assistant, Romeo gave him a paperclip and informed him of the shift change time. Assistant took the chance to prepare his escape.
Assistant held Romeo hostage, and Romeo successfully brought Assistant to the riverside before leaving. Assistant went to find Copy, realizing that he could only stay there for now. Zhuying Qiao went to see Uncle Pi, and it turned out his dementia had worsened. Surprisingly, while having a meal, Zhuying Qiao encountered Assistant, whose face was smeared black, but he was still recognized.
Assistant explained that he was being hunted by Russell and begged Zhuying Qiao for a chance. However, when the townspeople learned who Assistant was, they started chasing after Zhuying Qiao as well. Assistant had no choice but to go to a charity home since he had donated all his money to them, and they were willing to shelter him. Zhuying Tai called Assistant over, and she knew that he didn't eat peanuts, so she made sure there were none in the dish. However, when Zhuying Qiao was on the phone, Assistant took the opportunity to give the soup to his subordinate. Then Assistant took the chance to leave.
In the end, Uncle Pi passed away. Zhuying Qiao looked at the beads he left behind and reminisced about the past. She then went to the place where they used to play with the beads. Each bead would create a beautiful melody when it collided with a glass bottle. Suddenly, Zhuying Qiao heard someone speaking, and as she approached, she saw Assistant holding a pocket watch. Zhuying Qiao called him Shanbo.
