Episode 20 recap: Shen Yi manipulates Liu Chang Jie.

The Emperor summons his several princes before him and admonishes them angrily. Does anyone want to rebel? Do they want to kill each other for the throne? Have they forgotten their uncles in the ancestral temple? He tells his sons about the grievances and conflicts among him and his brothers in the past. His eldest brother, in his pursuit of the throne, conspired with others to kill him. The Emperor had no choice but to launch a coup and execute those brothers who plotted against him. However, even to this day, he still carries guilt in his heart.

Witnessing their father's furious outburst, the princes tremble in fear, and they all meekly assure their father that they dare not covet the throne. The third prince, Liu Chang Jie, returns to his residence still feeling anxious. He decides to surrender the military token and withdraw from the competition for the throne. However, Shen Yi does not allow him to retreat. Shen Yi casts a spell to control Liu Chang Jie and makes him hand over a fake Tiger Token.

Since Liu Chang Ge drove his daughter, Shen Xing, to her death, Shen Yi swears to make the Liu family pay with their lives. He will not spare any of them. The Emperor orders a eunuch to bring a hairpin, which belonged to Liu Chang Ge's mother, Lu Sha. When the Emperor sees the hairpin, he becomes melancholic, reminiscing about the past. He believes it is time to give it to Liu Chang Ge.

Liu Chang Ge places the hairpin in Bai Zai Zai's hair and tells her about his mother, Lu Sha. The hairpin contains various magical artifacts, which made Lu Sha feared by the Demonic Cult. To protect her son, Liu Chang Ge, Lu Sha fought a bitter battle against their enemy and ultimately died from exhaustion.

Upon hearing this, Bai Zai Zai silently grasps Liu Chang Ge's hand.
