Episode 8 recap: Gong Sun Qing puts an aphrodisiac in Liu Chang Ge's drink.
Although Liu Chang Ge did not agree to let Gong Sun Qing stay, Gong Sun Qing continues to pester him. She grabs Liu Chang Ge's hand and shakes it back and forth, leaving him unsure of what to do. Suddenly, Bai Zai Zai spills a cup of tea on Gong Sun Qing, just as Gong Sun Qing is about to erupt. Bai Zai Zai quickly apologizes, saying that she had intended to fetch water for Miss Gong Sun.
Liu Chang Ge seizes the opportunity to have a servant escort Gong Sun Qing away, claiming that she needs to change her clothes. Gong Sun Qing, furious and embarrassed, gets up and leaves. Liu Chang Ge looks at Bai Zai Zai with satisfaction, but she says there's no need for thanks and that she simply can't stand Gong Sun Qing.
Gong Sun Qing hastily leaves, contemplating that she needs to take further action. She sneaks into the Second Prince's kitchen, puts something in a bowl of soup, and then suddenly disappears. Liu Chang Ge is instructing Bai Zai Zai in sword practice when a maid brings the soup. Wang Zongguan symbolically tests it with a silver needle, and the maid then serves it to Liu Chang Ge. Liu Chang Ge intends for Bai Zai Zai to drink it, but she assumes it's for him and refuses to drink it herself.
So, Liu Chang Ge drinks the soup in one gulp. After returning to his room, Liu Chang Ge suddenly feels extremely uncomfortable, with a pale face and profuse sweating, which startles Bai Zai Zai. Liu Chang Ge abruptly embraces Bai Zai Zai and passionately kisses her.
At that moment, they hear Gong Sun Qing's voice from outside the door, saying she wants to come in and discuss the shared carriage matter with Liu Chang Ge. Gasping for breath, Liu Chang Ge says that he's not feeling well today and suggests discussing it another day. Gong Sun Qing hides nearby, patiently waiting for the aphrodisiac to take effect on Liu Chang Ge.
Bai Zai Zai realizes that he has been drugged and wants to detoxify him, but Liu Chang Ge says it's unnecessary and embraces her again.
