Episode 6 recap: Inspector Duan suspected Hua Sheng.

Inspector Bai questioned why Hu Xiaodie sneaked into Wang Lili's house, and Hu Xiaodie claimed that she was there to investigate the case. Inspector Duan questioned why they needed to be at the police station if they were investigating the case. Qingqing honestly stated that she found many suspicious things, and Inspector Duan retorted that she was the most suspicious one and shouldn't forget what she had done in the past.

Seeing the two arguing, Hu Xiaodie immediately pretended to be sick. The next day, Detective Bai visited her and informed her that her suspicion had been cleared. They had found a key witness who had accompanied her home that night. Hua Sheng found A Zhong to ask about the sequence of events. A Zhong recalled that when he saw Hu Xiaodie that night, she was already heavily intoxicated. Since Wang Lili wasn't home, he decided to take her with him. A Zhong mentioned that there was no one at Wang Lili's house, but Hu Xiaodie insisted that she saw lights on inside when she was at the door.

Hua Sheng concluded that it meant Wang Lili was already dead by the time A Zhong arrived. Inspector Duan asked Wang Langning why he didn't continue investigating Hu Xiaodie, and Wang Langning straightforwardly stated that the witnesses had proven Hu Xiaodie wasn't the culprit, so why keep targeting her? Inspector Duan clarified that he didn't suspect Hu Xiaodie but rather Hua Sheng, who was with her. Moreover, the disappearance of Zhou Lingling must have some connection to Wang Lili's death.

Hua Sheng saw the account book and expressed that Wang Lili's death was indeed linked to many things. At that moment, Hu Xiaodie walked in and expressed her desire for Hua Sheng to read her detective book to her. Hua Sheng agreed. Hu Xiaodie thought about A Zhong's claim that she had gone to deliver a script to Wang Lili, but she didn't have any ink smell on her. This indicated that he had a suspicion of murder, but now he was standing up as her witness. This behavior was truly perplexing, and it was possible that she was overthinking and it didn't necessarily mean anything.
