Episode 13 recap: Melancholy of uncertain affection.
After resolving the situation, Liang Weiping couldn't help but question Su Moyi, asking if he had taken advantage of Lin Wanqing. Su Moyi didn't want to explain, while Lin Wanqing told Liang Weiping that they were just together and hadn't done anything. However, Liang Weiping still couldn't trust them. When Lin Wanqing mentioned that Su Moyi was treating her well, Liang Weiping couldn't help but remind her that Su Moyi's kindness was just for show and not genuine.
Lin Wanqing couldn't help but feel melancholic because of Liang Weiping's words. She had developed feelings for Su Moyi, so she retreated to be alone and feel sad. Su Moyi didn't know why Lin Wanqing was feeling down, but he carefully accompanied her, helping her put on a coat. Lin Wanqing kept reminding herself that it wasn't real and found excuses to go back to her room and rest.
After Lin Wanqing went to sleep, Su Moyi also returned to his room. He wanted to tuck her in better, but to his surprise, Lin Wanqing seemed to know something and turned over, covering herself with the blanket, not allowing Su Moyi to touch her. Ye Qing and Lai Luo praised Liang Weiping continuously after he resolved Zhang Ren's doubts. They then asked Liang Weiping about his disappearance, curious about why he suddenly appeared.
Zhang Ren still had doubts about Su Moyi. He couldn't confirm if Su Moyi was Zhou Yipu, so he sent a letter to King Liang, asking for confirmation. King Liang received Zhang Ren's letter and immediately had the portrait of Zhou Yipu brought to him for confirmation. However, the person claimed to have never seen Zhou Yipu before and couldn't provide an answer to King Liang, infuriating him to the point of wanting to execute the person on the spot.
King Liang's subordinate pleaded for mercy on behalf of the messenger, convincing King Liang to let the messenger take the portrait back to Hongzhou for Zhang Ren to identify. After the messenger left, King Liang still had some concerns. He worried that news of Zhou Yipu going to Hongzhou might have been leaked, so he ordered an investigation into the activities of Wei Wen, who now controlled the Dalisi, to see if the Dalisi was involved in any schemes.
Su Moyi and Lin Wanqing continued to pretend to be a loving couple in front of others, but secretly they were planning their escape. Since Zhang Ren was avoiding them and possibly going to the capital to confirm their identities, they had to come up with a foolproof plan before that happened.
