Episode 8 recap: Feigning death to uncover the truth.
Upon realizing that Lin Wanqing didn't remember anything, Su Moyi left in anger, leaving Lin Wanqing confused about what she had done. After the matter was resolved, Lin Wanqing happily went to thank Su Moyi and the others, but Su Moyi asked her to participate in another act. Su Moyi and Lin Wanqing pretended to be poisoned and died, collapsing in the room, secretly luring out the traitor hidden within the Dali Temple.
When the kitchen maid saw that both Su Moyi and Lin Wanqing were dead, she went to pass the message, but before she could release her carrier pigeon, she was captured by Su Moyi's people. The kitchen maid confessed that she had been forced to work for someone else because her child had been captured, but she didn't know the identity of the person who threatened her or who the carrier pigeon belonged to.
Su Moyi couldn't find any clues from the kitchen maid, so he asked for Lin Wanqing's help. He wanted her to deliver the news of his death to the mastermind behind the scenes. Following the assassin's instructions, Lin Wanqing set off fireworks to relay the message to Prince Liang. However, Prince Liang was suspicious of the news and sent Xiaoqi to the Dali Temple to verify its authenticity while sending Xiaoba to meet Lin Wanqing and eliminate her.
After Lin Wanqing set off the fireworks, Su Moyi sent Lailuo to accompany her to the dental clinic to protect her and uncover the true culprit. Meanwhile, he continued his act of feigning death at the Dali Temple. While Xiaoqi was about to enter Su Moyi's room to check if he was really dead, Ye Qing rushed in, and Xiaoqi had to hide. As soon as Ye Qing entered the room, he began his act, pretending that Su Moyi had died. He cried sorrowfully, even calling Wei Wen to witness the scene, preparing to report it to the court. Only then did Xiaoqi believe it was true and immediately went back to report.
Upon learning that Su Moyi had died, Prince Liang felt relieved and eagerly awaited the execution of his other plans. Xiaoba went to kill Lin Wanqing but was poisoned by Lailuo. Fearing for his life, Xiaoba revealed the information about working for Prince Liang.
