Episode 16 recap: Xiao Ma Que's mother disapproves of her relationship with Jin Mu Lai.
Xiao Ma Que attends a business training session, and Jin Mu Lai waits outside early with her favorite bubble tea. They leave together affectionately. Xiao Ma Que's mother happens to see them and angrily scolds her daughter, forbidding her from being with Jin Mu Lai. Jin Mu Lai awkwardly stands aside while Xiao Ma Que's mother fails to understand why Xiao Ma Que would choose Jin Mu Lai, an unknown robot, when she has known Xu Lai since childhood. Xu Lai comes from a good family background, is well-mannered, and good-looking. Xiao Ma Que tells her mother that Xu Lai, being a playboy, is not suitable for her. Regardless of her mother's approval, she chooses Jin Mu Lai and leaves with him.
Back at home, Jin Mu Lai asks Xiao Ma Que why her aunt (referring to her mother) likes Xu Lai so much. Xiao Ma Que explains that she and Xu Lai grew up together, and they stayed in touch even after he went abroad after high school. However, Xiao Ma Que later discovered that Xu Lai was always surrounded by other women and they weren't compatible. Xiao Ma Que shares the prospects and drawbacks of brain-machine integration and an engineer concludes that once the repair mechanism is adjusted, it can be put into production.
Xu Lai, watching the radiant Xiao Ma Que, becomes fascinated. He drinks one glass after another in silence, while Li Qing advises him that letting go of Xiao Ma Que might be a good thing. Xu Lai firmly declares that he has never lost what he wanted from childhood to now. Li Qing believes that this is obsession.
Xu Lai staggers away, and Li Qing quickly goes to support him. They both fall onto the sofa, and Xu Lai suddenly embraces and kisses Li Qing. She passionately responds to his advances. Jin Mu Lai sits under the night sky with his younger brother, 008, watching the stars. It is past midnight, and Jin Mu Lai's self-destruct device will explode. 008 asks him what they should do.
