Episode 4 recap: The Golden-Faced Fox is a fake.

Upon seeing Cui Chen's handsome appearance, the boss of Yunlai Tower, Hu Meng, immediately came up with an idea and invited both Cui Chen and Zhao Tan Tan into the restaurant, claiming that they were her esteemed guests. Zhao Tan Tan, being a food lover, was dissatisfied with the famous roast chicken because it tasted awful. As soon as she voiced her dissatisfaction, other customers glared at her. Thinking that there was something wrong with her taste buds, Zhao Tan Tan felt relieved when she realized that Cui Chen had the same experience. Together, they went to confront Hu Meng.

Hu Meng made it clear that the taste of the food was not important as long as there was a large fan base. She explained that regardless of what they sold, they would make money as long as they could promote Cui Chen successfully. She invited Cui Chen to join her, assuring him that if she made him popular, Qingyuan Sect would no longer have to worry about their livelihood. Zhao Tan Tan immediately agreed, thinking about the wealthy women who were willing to spend a fortune just to make Cui Chen smile.

Since Zhao Tan Tan found the food at Yunlai Tower unsatisfactory, she learned that the kitchen had various ingredients and proposed to cook a few dishes herself. Cui Chen and others waited for a long time but didn't see Zhao Tan Tan finishing her cooking. Cui Chen went to the kitchen to urge her and saw billowing smoke, suspecting that Zhao Tan Tan had set the kitchen on fire.

In reality, Zhao Tan Tan had no clue how to cook and didn't want to embarrass herself in front of Cui Chen. She closed the kitchen door and prevented Cui Chen from entering, continuing her futile attempts at cooking. The dishes turned out to be inedible, so Zhao Tan Tan quickly found a plate to cover them before allowing Cui Chen to come in. Cui Chen was already famished and wanted to lift the lid to see what Zhao Tan Tan had cooked. This frightened Zhao Tan Tan, who firmly held down the plate and convinced Cui Chen to cook a few dishes as well, considering it a celebration of their second collaboration.

Cui Chen, unsuspecting, carefully prepared the dishes, and Zhao Tan Tan's mouth watered at the sight of them. She even found Cui Chen somewhat charming. Cui Chen brought the dishes to the table and casually lifted the cover of one of the plates, revealing tomato and egg soup. Realizing what it was, he quickly covered the dish again, claiming that Zhao Tan Tan's food had gone cold and wasn't tasty anymore. He decided to eat his own dishes.

Zhao Tan Tan preserved her dignity and became even more satisfied with Cui Chen. She finally stopped thinking that Cui Chen was intentionally targeting her at every turn.

That evening, Zhao Tan Tan and Cui Chen were waiting in the room for the Golden-Faced Fox. As the night grew late, they noticed smoke being blown into the room. They exchanged a glance and both understood the situation. Zhao Tan Tan hid in the wardrobe while Cui Chen pretended to be asleep.

The Golden-Faced Fox packed Cui Chen into a bag and carried him away. Zhao Tan Tan, observing through a crack in the cabinet, quickly followed. She tracked the fox until she found its den and jumped in, only to land with a painful thud. She discovered a plate of corn and a plate of pine nuts near the entrance. Being fond of delicious food, she ate a corn kernel and found herself growing larger, hitting her head on the cave ceiling and feeling extremely uncomfortable. In a hurry, she ate a pine nut and shrank into a dwarf. She then sneaked through a small door and happened to see the Golden-Faced Fox and Cui Chen passing by.

The Golden-Faced Fox sensed a presence in the cave, so Cui Chen quickly concealed Zhao Tan Tan in his chest, preventing the fox from noticing her. The fox left for a while, and Zhao Tan Tan asked Cui Chen to restore her to her normal size so she could find the scholars who had been captured by the fox. However, she discovered that they had no intention of leaving. Each person was engrossed in their own activities, leaving her feeling helpless.

When it was mealtime, Zhao Tan Tan realized that the food in the fox's den was better than the meals at Qingyuan Sect. She joined everyone for dinner, and each serving included a small chicken leg. Qiu Yue Bai and Cui Chen both gave their chicken legs to Zhao Tan Tan. She ate Qiu Yue Bai's leg without even touching the one given by Cui Chen, which annoyed him. Using magic, Cui Chen made all the chicken legs disappear, leaving Zhao Tan Tan craving meat. After a brief struggle, she ended up eating the chicken leg given by Cui Chen.

At bedtime, all the scholars obediently climbed onto the bed. Just then, the Golden-Faced Fox returned. Zhao Tan Tan and Cui Chen quickly pretended to lie together on one bed as a cover, but they were still discovered by the fox. Zhao Tan Tan took out her weapon, and the fox, threatened by the safety of the scholars, demanded that Zhao Tan Tan let it go.

Qiu Yue Bai volunteered to be a hostage and exchanged himself for the scholars held by the fox. He seized an opportunity to escape from the fox's grasp, and Zhao Tan Tan, no longer restrained, chased after the Golden-Faced Fox. However, she later discovered that it was actually a hamster spirit and that it had never mistreated the scholars. It was actually a prospective husband chosen for their unborn daughter.

Zhao Tan Tan didn't want to harm him but wanted the hamster clan's treasure, which turned out to be soybeans rather than gold or silver. Once again, her financial prospects were blocked.
