Episode 23 recap: Luo Qing Lian advises the prince.
The prince mentions that this is the second time he has seen Lv Bei Yi. The first time, he bestowed a lowly status upon Lv Bei Yi and asks what he should give him this time. Lv Bei Yi suggests that the prince might grant him death. Luo Qing Lian feels that no matter what decision the prince makes today, he will be reminded countless times of the princess, the princess in the swaddling clothes, and the princess who will regret her mistakes.
He Lian Xin comes to find the fourth young master and expresses disbelief that he would attempt to poison his own sister just to make the prince punish him. The fourth young master says that He Yuan Xue is also his sister, and without evidence, He Lian Xin shouldn't falsely accuse him. He Lian Xin admits to not having evidence but believes that fate will not allow Qu Liang to fall into the hands of someone like him.
The people around the prince inform him that He Yuan Xue has recovered from danger. The prince goes to see He Yuan Xue, who is still unconscious, crying out not to marry someone else. He Lian Xin and Lv Bei Yi come to see the prince. The prince mentions that this is the second time he has seen Lv Bei Yi and asks what he should give him this time. The prince acknowledges that He Lian Xin didn't handle his task well, but he made a decisive move by bringing He Yuan Xue back to the palace and saving her life, balancing the merits and demerits. The prince asks He Lian Xin and Lv Bei Yi to accompany him for a meal, stating that He Yuan Xue, for the sake of Lv Bei Yi, abandoned even her own father. She recklessly disrupted the wedding procession, disregarding the prince's palace and the Qi family. The prince intends to use a cup of poisoned wine to send him on his way.
Just as Lv Bei Yi is about to drink the poisoned wine, He Yuan Xue arrives, pleading with the prince to spare Lv Bei Yi. The prince, angered, says that He Yuan Xue woke up and only cares about Lv Bei Yi without asking about his own well-being. Luo Qing Lian arrives, bringing the jade flute bestowed by the previous queen, saying that the prince said it could grant amnesty and hopes to give it to Lv Bei Yi to save his life.
The prince is reluctant, but Luo Qing Lian believes that no matter what decision the prince makes today, he will be reminded countless times of the princess, the princess in the swaddling clothes, and the princess who will regret her mistakes. She hopes the prince won't have regrets in the future. The prince asks He Yuan Xue if she truly wants to be an ordinary person, and she confirms it. Luo Qing Lian wants to send He Yuan Xue to Lv Bei Yi's place, believing that it is where He Yuan Xue truly wants to go. Lv Bei Yi reveals that many years ago, he used someone and not only lost that person but also lost his heart. He feels that he can't accept another person now.
Luo Qing Lian thinks that perhaps it's fate, and maybe Lv Bei Yi will be able to accept He Yuan Xue in the future. He Yuan Xue wants to go back with Lv Bei Yi, but Lv Bei Yi feels that he can't give her what she wants right now.
He Yuan Xue doesn't mind and thinks it's great as long as she can be with Lv Bei Yi. Lv Bei Yi agrees. He Yuan Xue gives the wine jug to Luo Qing Lian, saying that it's something she desired but couldn't obtain. She hopes Luo Qing Lian will cherish it. She also mentions seeing a scholar outside who was searching for a woman with the fragrance of orchids on her and shared a night of passion with her. She feels that there is more than one devoted person.
Luo Qing Lian knows that it was actually He Lian Xin who had her bring the jade flute to save Lv Bei Yi. The fourth young master observes everything. The fourth madam thinks it's time to put Nan Ru Zhen to use. She goes to find Nan Ru Zhen and sees her as a mere servant.
Luo Qing Lian has someone bring the fragrance used by Nan Ru Zhen and confirms that it is indeed the fragrance of orchids. She realizes that her suspicion was correct. Luo Qing Lian learns that Nan Ru Zhen sent people out and urges them to go and save someone quickly. Li Tang and Dong Li rescue the scholar, and upon seeing Luo Qing Lian, she presents the scented handkerchief.
The scholar confirms that it is indeed the scent he was looking for and takes out a dagger, stabbing Luo Qing Lian. Fortunately, Luo Qing Lian is wearing the longevity lock and is unharmed. Nan Ru Zhen learns about it and comes to see Luo Qing Lian, only to discover that Luo Qing Lian is pregnant.
Luo Qing Lian's younger sister, Shui Lan, comes to see Luo Qing Lian and admits that she was wrong before. She hopes Luo Qing Lian will forgive her.
