Episode 34 recap: He Lian Xin implemented new policies.

Madam Si saw it and asked why the Fourth Master didn't inform her. The Fourth Master believed that Madam Si only wanted to become the queen and that they were not truly husband and wife. He Lian Xin succeeded to the throne and claimed to have investigated the grain incident. The results of the investigation are in this envelope, which he hasn't read yet.

He Lian Xin opened the letter and was surprised to find that it contained information about Luo Qing Lian's father. Luo Qing Lian was originally supposed to be appointed as a concubine, but someone interrupted the announcement. Luo Qing Lian was shocked when she learned about this and went to the prison to see her father. Luo Qing Lian's father was also puzzled and stated that he had personally inspected the grain and the seals were intact. He didn't understand how the problem occurred.

Luo Qing Lian suspected that someone was framing them, and her father believed that it wasn't possible for so many people to say the same thing. Luo Qing Lian realized that the principal wife and Madam Si had joined forces, and this incident was just the beginning. Luo Qing Lian pleaded with He Lian Xin, expressing that her father was not involved and that his health would not hold up in prison. She hoped that He Lian Xin would release her father first.

In fact, He Lian Xin had already ordered the release of Luo Qing Lian's father. He mentioned that Luo Qing Lian didn't trust him and warned that if there was a next time, he would make her kneel until nightfall. Luo Qing Lian agreed to his terms. The Seventh Master had completed the investigation and brought the box containing the military provisions, revealing a hidden mechanism that could be opened from the side without breaking the seals. This allowed for the substitution of the provisions.

The Seventh Master noted that those involved had been silenced, but the craftsmanship required for such a mechanism indicated that it was not the work of an ordinary artisan. After much effort, they managed to capture the craftsman and planned to bring him in the following day.

He Lian Xin was very happy and felt that his promise to Luo Qing Lian could be fulfilled tomorrow.

Madam Si approached the principal wife and informed her that they had now figured it out; the mastermind behind this incident was the principal wife's younger brother, Fang Er Ge. Madam Si suggested that Fang Er Ge should persuade his own brother to confess. She explained that He Lian Xin was actually advocating for the royal family and that if war broke out, their Fang family would be the first to bear the brunt. He Lian Xin wouldn't allow the Fang family to continue growing in power. The principal wife had to decide whether to sacrifice her own brother or risk losing their entire family.

The principal wife brought Fang Er Ge in and staged a scene where Fang Er Ge begged for mercy, claiming that he had been caught by Luo Qing Lian's father and was forced to frame him. Fang Er Ge pleaded with the principal wife to save him, but she stated that even if he was her brother, she couldn't spare him.

He Lian Xin overheard the conversation and realized that the principal wife was indeed willing to sacrifice her own kin. She didn't pursue any action against the Fang family but had Fang Er Ge executed. Lv Bei Yi returned, and He Lian Xin looked at a pair of characters left by his father. Lv Bei Yi explained that he had contemplated for a long time and finally understood that those characters meant "loyalty to the king."

He Lian Xin called Luo Qing Lian over and showed her the strategies for his planned new policies. He reminded her that he had promised to make Qu Liang a better place. After implementing the new policies, all the ministers gathered, realizing that this matter couldn't be accomplished overnight.

Luo Qing Lian arrived and informed them that He Lian Xin was sick. Everyone speculated whether He Lian Xin was genuinely ill or pretending. Yao Madam fell ill, and Luo Qing Lian visited her every day, delivering soup. She mentioned that if it weren't for Yao Madam helping the Seventh Master find the craftsman, her father would have been in trouble by now.
