Episode 4 recap: Chen Mo Bai decided not to return to Ruifeng.
Chen Mo Bai came to pick up Shen Xi and informed her that he had arranged for her to have a different job, so she could accompany him to the race. Chen Mo Bai's teammates were inspecting the car, but Shen Xi sensed something was wrong from the sound. The others stated that they had already conducted a thorough inspection and found no issues with the car.
Chen Mo Bai trusted Shen Xi's intuition and asked her to identify the problem. Shen Xi asked if they had checked the gasket. Chen Mo Bai instructed everyone to recheck, and they confirmed that there was no problem. Chen Mo Bai believed that Shen Xi might have been too nervous and assured her that he would return safely.
Due to previous issues with the car, Chen Mo Bai had a poor performance, so he started the race from the back. One of the racers experienced a problem, and several cars collided while trying to avoid it. However, Chen Mo Bai managed to pass through and reached the third position. Zhao Ying Ning was also watching the race and acknowledged that Chen Mo Bai was indeed a genius.
Chen Mo Bai overtook the previous racer and reached the second position, competing with Shen Chuan for the championship. Chen Mo Bai noticed a problem with the car, and Shen Xi realized that it was due to the high temperature of the day and the cars being too close, causing excessive intake of water vapor and preventing the temperature from dropping.
Shen Xi took the headset and directed Chen Mo Bai, instructing him to maintain a distance from the car in front until she gave the command for him to overtake. It was a bet on who would brake first. Lu Yunhao couldn't resist and braked first, giving Chen Mo Bai the opportunity to overtake him.
However, Chen Mo Bai's tire burst, and Lu Yunhao overtook him again. Shen Xi believed that Chen Mo Bai hadn't lost yet. Through calculations, she discovered that if Lu Yunhao was using standard racing tires, it was impossible for his tire not to burst. Chen Mo Bai decided to trust Shen Xi and appealed the decision. As Chen Mo Bai was an independent driver, he needed a company to vouch for him. Chen Mo Fei stepped forward and offered Ruifeng's guarantee.
In the end, the result came out, confirming that Lu Yunhao had indeed violated the rules. Therefore, the rankings were adjusted, and Chen Mo Bai was awarded the championship for this race.
Chen Mo Bai won the championship, and Zhao Ying Ning also won the bet. She stated that she would continue to invest in Ruifeng. Chen Mo Bai handed the helmet to Shen Xi, who asked why he said the helmet was a gift from Shen Chuan.
Chen Mo Bai explained that he had previously visited Shen Chuan's grave, and the helmet was placed on the tombstone. He had promised himself that he would become a professional race car driver, and the helmet fell off the tombstone. So he took the helmet, believing it was meant for him from Shen Chuan. Chen Mo Bai hoped that in future races, Shen Xi would lend him the helmet.
Shen Xi left the helmet with Chen Mo Bai, thinking that it might indeed be meant for him from Shen Chuan. Chen Mo Fei hosted a celebration banquet, and Chen Mo Bai overheard someone saying that Chen Mo Fei had made preparations to bribe people in order to ensure Chen Mo Bai's victory.
When Chen Mo Fei was about to make an announcement, Chen Mo Bai approached and expressed that he would not sign the contract. He didn't expect Chen Mo Fei to be so ruthless in doing business, resorting to bribing drivers. Chen Mo Bai stated that he wouldn't return to Ruifeng but could still compete in the A-League. Xu Gong hitched a ride with Zhao Ying Ning but encountered a tire burst on the way. Zhao Ying Ning didn't have a spare tire, so they had to wait for roadside assistance.
Chen Mo Bai sent a message to Shen Xi, informing her that he wouldn't return to Ruifeng, and Shen Xi didn't say anything in response. Chen Mo Fei understood Chen Mo Bai well and knew that once he believed someone had been bribed, he wouldn't go back to Ruifeng. His assistant assured him that they would investigate and find out the truth.
Chen Mo Bai called Jona for help and received something. Xu Gong asked Chen Mo Bai what he was thinking, and Chen Mo Bai believed that he could run in the A-League with sponsorship for his independent team. Xu Gong didn't believe that Chen Mo Fei had bribed drivers, but Chen Mo Bai revealed that fortunately, the drivers hadn't taken any money, or else he would have to return the championship.
Xu Gong expressed that the A-League and B-League were not in the same league at all. They would need at least ten million a year, and even if they could secure that much sponsorship, they wouldn't even have an engineer. Chen Mo Bai mentioned that he had someone in mind.
