Episode 21 recap: Tai Chu came to find Shang Guan Zui.
Zhao Guang Ye informed Tai Chu that none of the people he sent were able to kill Shang Guan Zui. Tai Chu expressed that he could go himself. Zhao Guang Ye felt that He Lan Xin Yue shouldn't be involved in this, as she would surely be angry if she found out. Tai Chu suggested not telling He Lan Xin Yue and instead bringing Shang Guan Zui back himself to hand over to Zhao Guang Ye's group, claiming that Zhao Chen Yang captured him. Zhao Guang Ye thought it was a good plan.
Tai Chu went to find Shang Guan Zui. Shang Guan Zui asked if He Lan Xin Yue sent him and believed that He Lan Xin Yue shouldn't have someone like Tai Chu around. Shang Guan Zui ordered someone to start a fire, stating that Tai Chu's presence wouldn't be enough to kill him since he had strong defenses.
Tai Chu had no choice but to leave for now, expressing that Shang Guan Zui owed He Lan Xin Yue and he would definitely get it back. He Lan Xin Yue's sister mentioned that she didn't agree when He Lan Xin Yue drove Tai Chu away because, after all, He Lan Xin Yue was now the Holy Maiden and everyone was watching him. With Tai Chu by his side, he could be protected.
He Lan Xin Yue said his sister was thinking about him, but no one had ever thought about Tai Chu. He Lan Xin Yue encountered an assassin there, and Zhao Guang Ye arrived in time to save He Lan Xin Yue.
Tai Chu also arrived but didn't let He Lan Xin Yue notice him. He Lan Xin Yue fainted and believed that it wasn't Tai Chu who saved him. The next day, He Lan Xin Yue's sister came to see him and brought a piece of fabric, saying it fell off the assassin yesterday. He Lan Xin Yue asked Princess Qiu Yi why she did it, and Princess Qiu Yi explained that Tai Chu would turn into a human because of the bond with He Lan Xin Yue. Therefore, she wanted to kill He Lan Xin Yue to grant Tai Chu true freedom.
He Lan Xin Yue stated that although Tai Chu said he didn't treat himself as a tree, she was the one who saw Tai Chu as a tree. He Lan Xin Yue asserted that Tai Chu would never belong to Princess Qiu Yi and asked her to let go. He Lan Xin Yue emphasized that Tai Chu was not hers and would never be hers.
Zhao Guang Ye came to find Princess Qiu Yi and mentioned that they were members of the royal family, where emotions were the least important. He initially thought that Princess Qiu Yi knew about it, but he didn't expect her to care so much. Princess Qiu Yi replied that it was because she was still a person.
Zhao Guang Ye stated that He Lan Xin Yue was innocent, and so was Tai Chu. He blamed himself for the mistakes and not clarifying things with Princess Qiu Yi earlier. He promised to find a way to compensate Princess Qiu Yi. Princess Qiu Yi expressed that her greatest concern was her brother. Since Zhao Guang Ye felt guilty towards her, she requested him to protect her brother.
Zhao Guang Ye and Tai Chu were drinking here when Tai Chu mentioned the recent attitude of He Lan Xin Yue towards him, which deeply saddened him. He Lan Xin Yue came to find Zhao Guang Ye, so Tai Chu hid himself.
He Lan Xin Yue believed that Zhao Guang Ye was the king and shouldn't take risks for her. Although she knew he didn't lack good medicine, she brought him a secret medicine from Xueluo that was very effective for external injuries. Princess Danyang wanted to come and find Shang Guan Zui, but he had been hiding behind the impregnable defenses he built. He didn't let anyone in or go out, so Princess Danyang had to return for now.
