Episode 24 recap: Shang Guan Zui is looking for Meng Ji.
Tai Chu wants to rescue Zhao Guang Ye, but there's fire everywhere. Zhao Guang Ye urges Tai Chu to leave quickly. Tai Chu is unwilling, but Zhao Guang Ye says they will die together in this place. Shang Guan Zui meets Princess Dan Yang and asks her to give this to Meng Ji.Princess Dan Yang finds it strange that Meng Ji is also Shang Guan Zui's person. Shang Guan Zui clarifies that it's not the case, but they have a common interest. Zhao Guang Ye no longer expects Bei Rong Wang to come and save him, believing that Tai Chu won't come to his rescue. However, to his surprise, Tai Chu does arrive.
Bei Rong Wang orders his men to shoot arrows. Tai Chu intends to rescue Zhao Guang Ye, but there's fire all around. Zhao Guang Ye tells Tai Chu to leave quickly. Despite being injured, Tai Chu still refuses to leave, and Zhao Guang Ye suggests that they die together.
He Lan Xin Yue comes to see Shang Guan Zui, wanting to save Zhao Guang Ye. She hopes Shang Guan Zui can tell her about Bei Rong Wang's weaknesses and plans. Shang Guan Zui doesn't disclose any information to He Lan Xin Yue, but she sees Princess Dan Yang in a prophecy and instantly understands that Princess Dan Yang is Bei Rong Wang's weakness.
He Lan Xin Yue shares the scene she witnessed with Princess Qiu Yi Chang. Princess Qiu Yi Chang claims to know the place mentioned, which is within Da Shang's territory, and she immediately leads people there. Princess Qiu Yi Chang successfully takes Princess Dan Yang hostage. He Lan Xin Yue and the others bring Princess Dan Yang with them, and she cries out for Bei Rong Wang to save her.
He Lan Xin Yue reveals that Mu Rong Zi Hao has already died and now Princess Dan Yang is Bei Rong Wang's only bloodline. She questions whether he would abandon even this bloodline. Bei Rong Wang hesitates for a moment and decides to release Zhao Guang Ye and the others. He Lan Xin Yue promises to release Princess Dan Yang once they are safely away.
General Zheng and his men follow behind and bring Princess Dan Yang back. General Zheng approaches Bei Rong Wang, informing him that Zhao Chen Yang has attacked their city and occupied it, merely placing their flags without leaving anyone behind. Bei Rong Wang finds Zhao Chen Yang intriguing and decides that they should also return.
General Zheng feels that they didn't gain much from this and even lost Shang Guan Zui. Bei Rong Wang explains that it was Shang Guan Zui's own choice to become a hostage. Shang Guan Zui wanted to become a hostage and go there to find Meng Ji because Meng Ji can create puppets, and Shang Guan Zui possesses the blood of the kings of various nations. With that, they can make Meng Ji create all these puppets and help Bei Rong Wang conquer the world.
Bei Rong Wang believes that this matter is indeed very important and can only be done by Shang Guan Zui personally. He asks Shang Guan Zui if giving up the throne of a country is worth it. Shang Guan Zui says that without Bei Rong Wang's help, they would never have been able to avenge their mother's death, so they are willing to do anything for Bei Rong Wang.
Zhao Guang Ye and the others return to the capital city. Zhao Guang Ye is shot in the chest and seriously injured, while Tai Chu remains unconscious. Meng Ji states that only someone from the Zhi Qing lineage, which Tai Chu belongs to, can save him. He Lan Xin Yue is extremely worried and wonders how Tai Chu can have such close relatives.
Zhao Guang Ye uses his own blood to save Tai Chu, which surprises He Lan Xin Yue. The divine physician examines Zhao Guang Ye and explains that the arrow in his chest is severe, and his pulse is weak. If he rests well and avoids mental and physical strain, he may have about a year left to live.
Zhao Guang Ye acknowledges this but tells the divine physician not to reveal it to anyone. Princess Qiu Yi Chang overhears this but declares that no matter what happens, she will accompany him until the end. Zhao Chen Yang whips Shang Guan Zui, and the people around quickly try to stop him.
Princess Li Jun finally arrives and finds Shang Guan Zui. Shang Guan Zui gives her something to pass on to Meng Ji. Princess Li Jun finds it strange that Meng Ji is also associated with Shang Guan Zui. Shang Guan Zui clarifies that they are not directly associated but share the same interests. Since they have common interests, they can collaborate.
