Episode 5 recap: Bei Rong wants Qing Bai to be a hostage.
Meng Ji has taken control of Tai Chu and realizes that Tai Chu is indeed a puppet. Although Meng Ji doesn't know who created it, he believes that if he can study it, he might be able to create something similar. Meng Ji wonders why Zhao Guangye would keep such an exquisite puppet by his side. Doesn't he worry that it might pose a threat in the future?
Meng Ji approaches Tai Chu and asks for help to find happiness. Meng Ji says that only powerful individuals can achieve such a thing, and he is incapable of doing so. Tai Chu then realizes that Meng Ji has deceived him, but he hasn't actually been controlled. He pretended to be controlled to deceive Meng Ji.
He Lan Xin Yue notices that Tai Chu is missing and hurriedly comes to find him. He encounters Zhao Guangye and senses Tai Chu's presence on him. He Lan Xin Yue asks Zhao Guangye where he came from and what he has done to Tai Chu. Zhao Guangye claims to be the king of Dong Lin and tells He Lan Xin Yue to stop causing trouble.
He Lan Xin Yue arrives at a courtyard where Qing Bai, Zhao Guangye's sister, resides. She is stopped by the guards, but Qing Bai dismisses them and admits that she has known about He Lan Xin Yue's presence in the palace for a while but hadn't met her yet. Qing Bai offers to show He Lan Xin Yue around her living quarters.
General Zheng from Bei Rong arrives in Dong Lin. He Lan Xin Yue suggests that since Zhao Guangye doesn't know where Tai Chu is, she should go seek the assistance of General Zheng to help them in Bei Rong. They are certain that Bei Rong can find Tai Chu's whereabouts. Zhao Guangye pulls He Lan Xin Yue aside and gives her three days, promising that she will see Tai Chu after that time.
Qing Bai is playing hide-and-seek with Chen Yang when He Lan Xin Yue arrives. She uses a hairpin to threaten Chen Yang, forcing Qing Bai to take her to find Tai Chu. Chen Yang is very nervous and asks He Lan Xin Yue not to harm him. Qing Bai believes that everyone has someone they care about and urges Chen Yang to take He Lan Xin Yue to see Tai Chu. Chen Yang reluctantly agrees.
He Lan Xin Yue arrives and sees Tai Chu. She discovers that Meng Ji intends to harm Tai Chu and draws her sword, pointing it at Meng Ji. She explains that she has witnessed many deaths but has never killed anyone herself, and she won't kill Meng Ji either because he needs to stay alive to face his fate.
He Lan Xin Yue declares that everything Meng Ji has done to Tai Chu will be repaid upon himself, and he will meet a fiery death. She states that she will take Tai Chu away because Zhao Guangye had promised her freedom and not to harm Tai Chu.
Zhao Guangye appears and informs He Lan Xin Yue that someone wants to speak with her. It turns out to be her father. He Lan Xin Yue explains that her father had left her to live alone on Snow Peak Mountain and only came to her when he needed a prophecy.
He Lan Xin Yue's father tells her that it is the destiny of the Holy Maiden, and she should accept it. Zhao Guangye brings He Lan Xin Yue to see the words on the stone, explaining that her father had instructed her to practice writing with water here and make the characters visible. It took her six years to understand that her father's love for the people surpasses his love for her, and loving the people is loving oneself.
Zhao Guangye suggests that five years will pass quickly and asks He Lan Xin Yue to assist him for five years, implying that her father might reveal his true feelings to her during that time. He Lan Xin Yue predicts Qing Bai's future and discovers that Qing Bai will die wearing the attire of Bei Rong.
General Zheng proposes sending Qing Bai to Bei Rong, which is essentially making her a hostage. The Prime Minister advises Zhao Guangye to agree to the arrangement, stating that they can only endure for now. Chen Yang disagrees, saying that Qing Bai is their sister. Zhao Guangye says he needs more time to think and asks them to leave for now.
