Episode 18 recap: Gu Xinghe meets the Emperor.
Bao Rourou felt that Gu Xinghe was just laughing at her earlier. Gu Xinghe denied it, but Bao Rourou insisted that she saw it. Gu Xinghe and Bao Rourou go to meet the Emperor, and Bao Rourou behaves improperly in front of the Emperor. Bao Rourou asks about the condition of Gu Xinghe's father, and his father explains that he went to pay respects and not to perform tricks. Gu Xinghe's father considers Bao Rourou as their prospective daughter-in-law and has great confidence in her medical skills.
Yi Qifeng tells the Emperor about Xiao's situation, and the Emperor decides to reward Yi Qifeng. However, Yi Qifeng credits Bao Rourou and Gu Xinghe for their help in uncovering the truth and does not want to take credit for himself. The Emperor asks Yi Qifeng to bring Bao Rourou and Gu Xinghe to meet him, as he wants to reward them. Bao Rourou is practicing walking here, and she feels that Gu Xinghe was just laughing at her earlier. Gu Xinghe denies it, but Bao Rourou insists that she saw it.
Bao Rourou asks about the condition of Gu Xinghe's father, and his father explains that he went to pay respects and not to perform tricks. Gu Xinghe's father suggests that Bao Rourou should walk however she feels comfortable and not worry about behaving improperly in front of the Emperor. Gu Xinghe and Bao Rourou go to meet the Emperor, and Bao Rourou behaves improperly in front of the Emperor, but the Emperor finds her quite adorable. Bao Rourou expresses her desire to meet the Empress, and the Empress happens to arrive.
Bao Rourou claims that she can cure the Empress, but the Emperor is somewhat skeptical. Gu Xinghe's father comes over and assures the Emperor that Bao Rourou is their prospective daughter-in-law, and he has great confidence in her medical skills. Bao Rourou uses mermaid blood to treat the Empress, and the Empress confirms that she is indeed cured. The Emperor asks Bao Rourou how she did it, and Bao Rourou says that she will only tell the Emperor alone. The Emperor asks everyone else to leave.
The Emperor reveals that he has been searching for a method of immortality and asks Bao Rourou if she has any solutions.
