Episode 5 recap: Yi Qifeng encounters trouble.
A mysterious figure dressed in black comes to the prison to see Chen Yan and expresses that he hasn't avenged his wife and children yet, and that he got himself locked up here. The figure asks if Chen Yan would be willing to accept this fate. The person in black gives Chen Yan a bottle of medicine, claiming that it is a fake death potion and leaves it up to Chen Yan to decide whether to take it or not. Yi Qifeng arrives with his team and instructs everyone to act separately. If they find any traces of merfolk or mermaid pearls, they should not take action on their own and immediately inform him.
Yi Qifeng goes to stay with Gu Xinghe but ends up being drugged and kidnapped. The next day, Gu Bo comes looking for Gu Xinghe, saying that Yi Qifeng left behind a fan. Gu Xinghe knows that Yi Qifeng would never leave behind this fan, which was bestowed upon him, so something must have happened. Bao Rourou and Gu Xinghe hurry to search for Yi Qifeng but get separated along the way.
Gu Bo didn't expect to see the day when Gu Xinghe would return with a girl. Gu Xinghe has a heart condition and couldn't catch up, so he had no choice but to return first. Wang Buliuxing prepares medicine for Gu Xinghe and asks what he was doing and how things ended up like this. Wang Buliuxing shows that the medicine is very precious and that he only made this one bowl, so Gu Xinghe should be cautious in drinking it.
Bao Rourou waits there, originally intending to continue chasing after Yi Qifeng. However, she is unexpectedly knocked unconscious and taken away. Gu Xinghe realizes that Bao Rourou is also missing and quickly goes after them.
