Episode 9 recap: Gu Ruyue humiliates Ran Shu.
Gu Ruyue sees how miserable Ran Shu's life is now and feels a great sense of satisfaction. However, she can't help but want to insult her further. Ran Shu pleads with Gu Ruyue to spare her, but Gu Ruyue believes it's absolutely impossible. She sees all the suffering Ran Shu is going through now as the price she has to pay for abandoning Gu Ruyue in the past. Gu Ruyue smugly tells Ran Shu that she will eventually let her go because Ran Shu is still her dearest sister. She also warns Ran Shu that with her current haggard appearance, she might be abandoned by Zhang Zeyi.
Ran Shu doesn't feel particularly sad in her heart. Instead, she picks up the things from the ground as if nothing happened and continues with the meeting. Gu Yibai takes the initiative to talk to Ran Shu about his new book. Seeing that it's getting late, Gu Yibai offers to drive Ran Shu home. Ran Shu notices the cartoons in the car and can feel that Gu Yibai cares a lot about his sister.
Ran Shu throws the orange that Gu Ruyue trampled on into the trash bin at home. Zhang Zeyi sees it and cuts the orange in half to share with his wife. He jokingly asks what he should do if his wife were to leave him. Ran Shu suggests going back to school together with Zhang Zeyi. He agrees, as they haven't visited the school in five years.
